case.card
Hi all! My wife and I are just getting back into Malifaux after a long hiatus. After diving through our collection we discovered quite a few of the new plastic kits we never really got around to doing anything with. In particular, one set had a certain brilliance that called to me from it's foam tray... Dark Debts! After a glut of terrain bashing, it's time to finally get Mr Lynch ready to rock! I've always been a bit nutty about painting for skirmish games- especially Malifaux! In particular, I feel like it's so important to really make the rich background of the characters shine through! Dark Debts is a fantastic opportunity to get back into the swing of storytelling with models. Mr Lynch and crew have a dark (heh) background that really gets told through each piece. I started with basing the models, and after a *lot* of reading felt pretty comfortable with the story of Lynch and the Hungering Darkness. Below you'll find pics of the crew standing proud on their new bases. I'm hoping to have everything painted up over the next couple weeks, and I'll drop in new photos as we go along. *****As a note, the ideas aren't entirely original! Google Image Search was incredibly helpful in providing inspiration. Something I've always loved about the miniatures community over "fine art" is everyone's willingness to share and teach!
case.card
Here's master Lynch and his buddy Huggy! For Lynch I wanted some hefty elevation for the mini- to give him a perspective from which to watch over his crew. The sign over the window will says "Chips." Huggy... Well... I wasn't ever the biggest fan of the Darkness him/her(?)-self. So instead, I drew some inspiration from the Dreamer's avatar, and had him diving through the bar itself. With the paint I'll add some OSL to the items on the bar.

Littlewicked
Love the idea behind this. Looking forward to the finished product. Bonus for the excellent work filling in Huggy's massive head wound.
case.card
So, I had a bit of a detour the last few weeks. I hammered out the Guild Starter Set so the wife and I can demo, and that crazy old Wong showed up at Christmas! Now that all those fellers are behind me, this crew has hit the table! Huggy is first up, though he only has the first few layers of highlights on him. I'll try to shoot some pics of WIP as I go this weekend! Thanks for the support everyone! So much easier to keep motivated!
Popular Post case.card
Okay, so Huggy D is completed. I stretched a bit to try my hand at OSL and my lack of practice shows. No worries though, he'll play well enough, lol!
iamfanboy
Love them! One question: Where did you get the bits (the bottles, the bucket) from? My bit supply is running low and I need to replenish it.

Treehouse
Totally love the idea and execution. A part of a roulette table for Mr. Tannen's base would be awesome.

I had no clue what to do for poor Mr. Tannen, so his base is pretty plain! Thankfully, I haven't primed him yet, so maybe a roulette table is in order! sillybrian
This is so cool. The bases really tell a story and are something to be proud of. Honestly... I'd be too afraid to actually game with them! lol. Well done sir, well done indeed.

Chou
Superb! I'd love to see the whole crew together, are you planning to do a big base to place all the models together? (a saloon would be nice)

I already have a nice carved base at around 12x8" to mount everything on. I intend to do a mock up of the Honeypot Casino for the models to inhabit. Since I'm so excited about building it, I decided I would paint the whole crew first so I stay motivated! PROGRESS: All 13 models mounted on custom built bases Original 6 models from Dark Debts primed Hungering Darkness fully painted Crew display base purchased I've been pretty consistently knocking out a crew a week, but I just picked up two hefty commissions, so they get the lion's share of the time. Fortunately, we have a Rapid Growth (2015) League starting at the FLGS on the 19th, so I'll continue to have an excuse to carve out time for Mr. Lynch!

Grizelgrandt
Great stuff!! I have recently started Malifaux, so I'm not that sure about all rules, but wouldn't Lynch be much easier to hit? Since the door is bigger than him and he is taller? I really like the theme you have going there and I totally agree that Huggy is not a superb model in everybody's eyes. You have captured it in a great pose though. Thumbs up! Now I can't say that I'm not playing lynch because I dislike some models.
