All the things you want to soapbox and/or have debate about in Malifaux

Also what Dirial said. He has been posting really wise stuff throughout this thread.

Like you, I thought a lot about these topics. I just try to express my opinion. But thanks, regardless.

But again, I wish to ask a simple question: would your enjoyment of the game be lessened if the new plastic Pistoleros box included two women and one man? I have posed this question quite a few times in the thread yet no one has so far answered it.

I'll answer. Nope, wouldn't bother me at all. If it was overdone, then yes....that's why I don't play the Viks...because their fluff crew is all women. I do however enjoy a nice mix....and since the Ortega box specifically is all men save one, I think a couple female Pistoleros would be great.

I've never stated that I'm against variety...all for it. Women, men, fat, skinny, brutish, white, black, purple, and everything in between....bring it on....I do love to experiment painting different skin tones.

My greatest stands have always been against the hypocrisy that's rife in this thread.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I was pretty sure that you would answer in that way since you're always experimenting with new techniques and a variety of minis is something that painters tend to appreciate. And I agree wholly with you.

I'm not necessarily disputing this but I wish to express one thought on equality. There are different sorts of equality. For example, an equal tax of 1000 euros per month would be equal for all but it wouldn't be fair since some people earn 10000 per month while some earn 500. Similarly, if there are two black minis in the game, more care should be taken in how they are being depicted compared to white ones if there are 100 white minis in the game. So yeah, not necessarily disputing your claim (it is a bit vague so somewhat hard to dispute and I think that the mods would prefer it to remain vague so I'm not asking you to elaborate), just wished to offer this thought.

To whomever decided to respond by hunting down my personal e-mail and mailing me a bunch of illegal porn, I reported you to the authorities and I hope they SWAT you.

I'm now 3/3 wargame communities where I have experienced direct, targeted harassment aimed at driving women out of the hobby. Are we going to accept that there's a problem?

I'm not an unreasonable guy.....I could probably be swayed to this line of thought.....when taken as 'there are only 2 so we have to be more careful' that makes a fair bit o' sense.........but when it's 'it's okay to pick on the white guy because he's a white guy' is when I get all uppity.

I'm truly sorry for that, and I really hope that whoever did that is not actually coming from this community. There is no reason anyone should ever behave like that.

That's terrible. I hope the authorities get them as well.

I don't disagree that there may be a problem, unfortunately I don't think this proves that there is a problem against women....it only proves that someone has a problem with you....no offence.  Let's face it, some of the things you have said, and the way you have said them aren't going to win everyone to your side. I do think that that person's response is utterly extreme, juvenile, hateful, etc, and totally ridiculous and they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I think we all by and large remember that we are customers and not designers. We know our dollars, rather than forum posts are our votes. It's nice to have a forum where the actual developers read what we say (and hopefully steal the good ideas).

My hope is to see more options in Wyrd model kits. I liked the idea of the multi part model, but due to the nature of the portrayed character (random pc) there wasn't much on the spruce that excited me. I think getting a minion or master kit with limb or head options would be really inspiring.

My all time favorite GW kits are Empire Battle Wizard, Chaos Spawn, and Chaos Lord for Chaos Marines. They were just fun. When everyone was drawing up battle lines over the Colette sculpt (hat is best) this was all I could think of. It'd be nice to see Masters at the very least with alt. Parts.

Edit: Maybe include gender swapped heads and alternative legs with pants vs. skirts. Make more people happy.

I concur. The Illuminated, Rail Workers and Death Marshals had options as well. That was great.

There are of course exceptions such as the Doppelganger, but that one I enjoyed more for showing the changing of the flesh and the musculature than anything. Could it have been done a different way, yeah, very likely, but I also quite enjoyed the idea of the model itself in that manner and personally didn't find a thing about it 'sexualized' as I usually like my people non flayed.

Thus proving that, no matter what Justin says, Nathan is NOT a member of House Bolton.

I'm a little bit leery of many different options. I like the idea, but the reality ends up meaning a few things:

1) More expensive since there is more work to design and manufacture these kits

2) Potentially less interesting poses

In limited amounts, such as an arm holding a gun or an arm holding a sword, I can see it and am OK with it. Or a head with a hat and a head without a hat. But I found the multipart sprues rather limiting because of the need to be able to mix and match parts.

I certainly won't object if I had a couple different head choices or something to that effect, I really like to mix and match and get the look I want. But if I results in boring poses so that there can be options, or significantly increases the cost, I'd vote no.

I'm extremely, extremely sorry to hear that Ferossa. Utterly horrible :(

I think that I have been far less eloquent, more obnoxious and generally louder (and have likely been responsible for way more threads getting derailed - my apologies) and yet no one has harassed me like that. In fact, that sort of thing (sending illegal porn to someone) is something that I see very unlikely of happening to me (or you) because of gender.

An attack is an attack. I have been attacked......not in that way specifically, but people will attack you where they believe you have a weakness. The method of attack is fairly irrelevant....if someone hits you with a sword or an ax the end result is the same...you have been attacked.

I might be naïve and full of a feeling of invulnerability but I really don't feel like I need to worry about such a thing happening to me.

Edit: and that was meant to be taken at a face value - no snark was meant. I really might be just naïve.

I have a question about technical limitations for producing 28-30mm plastic models I've been wondering about for a long time that's broadly applicable to this thread.  I'm not sure if any of Wyrd's sculptors are on here or if Nathan can answer this but here goes.

People have noted that many 28-30mm women have quote, "boobs bigger than their heads," and I'm wondering whether this sort of feature is due to the small scale of the models and the technical limitations of converting a sculpt into a physical model (i.e. the mold).  For example, in 30mm scale, Kang is a big dude.  But if he were scaled up to real human size, he'd be a 6'6" 280lb hulk with 22" biceps and hands like shovels. Viktoria of Blood would have DDD cups at normal human size while her boobs look pretty much normal at 30mm.

So what I'm getting at is whether there's sufficient manufacturing capacity at 28-30mm scale to capture the difference in facial features between a white dude and a hispanic dude or to sculpt a woman with small boobs and have her not look like a man.  I've wondered about this sort of thing for awhile, since most models at this scale tend to have exaggerated features.

Actually this is a very interesting question and may go to answering a lot of gripes people have had on here.

On the scale issue, one of the old gw hq bodss I worked with told me that even at 'true scale' they used for lotr hands and other anatomical parts needed to be either exaggerated or shrunk to make sense visually, apparently that was the reason for the awful original Arwen model, as the actors/actresses had to give their OK on the models, and liv Tyler thought her original sculpt looked too fat with an exaggerated waste, so the sculptors redid it as close as possible to reality...

To whomever decided to respond - - -

That is truly terrible.

While disagreements may happen, it should never lead to anything even remotely like this, and it is in times like these that a community should voice outrage.

I understand many whom have read this tread have chosen to remain silent, for reasons of their own, but I think with a case like this, it is up to the dwellers of this community to stand up against discrimination and petty, juvenile attacks.

To continue to remain silent is the same as condoning what happened, and it reflects poorly on the community, the game, and - not least of - you, as an individual.

Ferossa, you have my support.

She has reported it to the authorities, the culprit of the act hasn't been identified, what are we to do? Go after everyone in this thread who has offered differing opinions? If Ferossa's area is hostile, who is the henchman for the area?
