  1. I'm looking for a little help from my fellow Wyrd-os. I just bought Tara from the Black Friday sale and I've been looking into all of her stuff (Pull My Finger, Schemes & Stones, etc.) and I keep hearing about the dreaded "Beast Bomb", which I understand in principle, but would love it if someone could give me a T1 rundown of how this is meant to actually work. The list I've got built for her right now looks like this (and comments on this would be nice as well) Tara - 7 stone cache (will likely go down when I decide on upgrades for NB, Scion, and Talos - I'm tempted to give them all Oath Keeper) (Emptiness, Obliteration Symbiote, Out of Time) The Nothing Beast (Void Shield, *Open Slot) Scion of the Void (*Open Slot x2) Talos (*Open slot) Death Marshal Void Wretch Void Wretch Void Wretch I want to focus on using the NB as the bomb for now until I see what he can and can't do. I've heard Killjoy and Bete are also good bombs because they can start buried and do wicked damage. I've also got Bishop, who I've heard is good for bombing. What other models work well with Tara as possible bombs to drop on people? Having written the word 'bomb' this many times now I feel like the FBI will be at my house tonight. Thanks for any and all advice!

  3. Hello! This thread will serve as a place for me to post battle reports so I don't end up flooding the board with them. As the title suggests, the focus of this thread will be on my Outcast games with Parker Barrows, and a little Freikorp, Viktorias or whatever else I feel like playing on the side. This OP will be updated with links to each Battle Report as I complete them. Any suggestions, thoughts, or comments are welcome! 6. Alternativ Rat Kings

Hi, Does someone knows good alternative Rat Kings? Yesterday I noticed that two are not enough, but i don't want to buy the Brotherhood of the Rat Box again. I have enough Malifaux Rats and Rat Catcher.
  7. Freikorps

Hello, fellow hobbyists! Only my second post on the forums (so be gentle ) - I'm not new to tabletop gaming, but definitely new to Malifaux and really loving the quality, realistic proportions and exquisite detail of the miniatures, although they are by-far-and-away some of the fiddliest builds I have ever encountered, and I am afraid I made a couple of minor mistakes along the way (don't look too closely at the Specialist's tubing for instance!), but all-in-all I am really pleased with how these turned out, and I love how they look on the tabletop... My plans are to slowly expand with Lazarus, Sue and a couple of Convict Gunslingers - I'm also obligated to paint my wife's Ten Thunders, although if I'm honest the initial set didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped (first time working with yellow) and will be reserved for another post, at another time (possibly after they've had a Dettol do-over!). In the meantime, whilst they're not up to the (frankly, inspirational) standard of many of the forum's existing luminaries, I hope you enjoy!
  8. Hello everyone. I'm returning (again) to the game having found some local players. I played a few games a long time ago and have a small collection of the old metal gremlin models. It's basically the 'Kin' box plus a couple of slop haulers and some young LaCroix. These were from a time when Gremlins wasn't a full blown faction in it's own right. I've picked up the latest rules and cards for my old models and I do have just enough to play games without a great deal of choice. So far I've limited myself to Henchmen Hardcore as I try and remember how to play the game! So what's the problem I hear you ask. You thought it I'm sure you did. Well the problem is that whilst I think all the latest models are really nice they just don't fit in with my old metal ones. Nostalgia and the fact that I painted them quite well means that I'm not excited about mixing the two styles. So I've decided that I want to branch out into a new faction as I get back into the game. I just have no real clue which ones. So instead of multi-posting across all the faction sub forums I though I'd try a post here. In a futile attempt to assist anyone brave enough to answer this post here are some things that might help: Rule of cool means I was thinking maybe the Viktorias from Outcasts. The problem there is that I like to keep things themed so after that box I'm struggling a bit as Outcasts seem quite eclectic in there styles. The fact that the Kin are imitations of Perdita and the Latigo Posse made me look there. The Gulid seem to have more options within the same (cowboy steampunk) theme but is it a good or bad thing that I think it might just play too similar to the gremlins I have? I'm just not sold on the Neverborn or Resurrectionists looks or concepts. I have no clue about the Ten Thunders as they were not around last time I played. However who doesn't like Asian influenced Ninja and Shaolin types? In other games I tend to prefer the more elite forces that are flexible but brutal rather than the horde style forces (not applicable here) or the very high synergy/tricky/control forces that need to stay out of the fight and be clever. For Malifaux I'll be playing a lot of Henchman Hardcore to start and whilst I wouldn't mind attending tournaments in the future this is not my 'hardcore tournament system' it's more about fun and theme and the aesthetics of it all. So whilst I've written a wall of text I've probably not helped you much in answering the 'where do you think I should start looking for a new faction?' question I'm asking. Any thoughts appreciated. EDIT: Just to add that the reason I'm asking and not just experimenting is that both cash and hobby time are very limited so wanted to avoid, if possible, going down blind alleys and ending up with a little of everything rather than a good core of stuff I can build on.
  9. Triple Wokou Raiders

Hey guys, Has anyone had success with three Wokou Raiders? The idea is to move them all together by using the built-in 'Drop It!' to trigger 'Ever Changing Wind' and leap-frog each raider up 3" at a time. Seems a good way to keep them all in combat, where they're relatively safer.

  11. Hodgepodge Effigy

Hi all, I don't know if this has been asked or changed already but I am quite new. Why does the hodgepodge effigy have a gun but no ranged attack? Does the gun fire the mist?

  13. Best outcast minions

Hello! I'm fairly new to the game, I play Viks and I'm having a blast. I'm experimenting with various henchmen and enforcers (Hannah, Vanessa, Taylor, Strongarm so far) however I run into the same problem over and over. Given how heavy Viks tend to go on upgrades and that most henchmen and enforcers in Outcasts are 10 SS models those 6 SS Ronins, awesome as they are, seem way too expensive, to the point where I cut one of them recently and just ran with two. So I'm wondering. What in your opinion are the best minions Outcasts have and why, for which role etc. Share your thoughts, pretty please!
  14. MalifauxMart's Plog II

Hi all once again, so last year I started collecting Malifaux minis, and painted a few up. Then for one reason or another everyone at my local club stopped playing. So the Outcasts sat on a shelf. But now they're back! Here's a refresher of what I had already finished... Sorry for the amount of photos
  15. Jack daw's area of madness

hello people, I have been running Jack Daw for a while now and with all the movement shenanigans and curse potential he is my favourite, I just keep finding new and cool lists with him. I have recently tried the following list Jack Daw > Writhing torment Twist and Turn 3 curses Jakuna Ubume > The creeping Terror Ama Na Zako Lady Leiga Ronin Johan Montressor > fearful whisper Brick by brick I have found another interesting way to play him (this may not be a new way to some but I'm not the quickest to discover new things), its all the terrain the only thing that I have had to be careful with is ama na zako's terrain say all models where as jakuna says enemy so placement is key tried it with a drowned but ama na zako kept killing him, in my other lists I tend to have a good mix where as this has two focal models but with strategies like turf war I think it could really work. please share your thoughts comments on this or on Jack Daw
  16. The Faces of Oblivion

Question that came up and I hadn't thought about and now I'm not sure any more. At the end of the turn the model suffers damage equal to half its Wd stat. Is this the Wd stat printed on the card or the number of wounds it has left. E.g. If I summon a Guild Autopsy and my opponent puts a few wounds on it will it be killed when it takes its half wounds?
  17. Hey guys, after playing Neverborn with Collodi, Dreamer and Pandora for awhile I've decided to strike out into a different faction and have chosen outcasts. So far I've acquired: Hired Guns Hired Swords Salvage and Logistics Hannah Lazarus Hodgepodge Emissary I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on stuff like lists I could build, synergies, traps and what to add to my collection. Thanks
  18. Too elite heavy

I tend to find whilst playing Outcasts that for a majority of my games I seem to be going too elite heavy with only 6 or so models on the field in a 50ss game. Wondering if anyone has any tips or hints to help me figure out a more rounded out crew thought process. I tend to play Von Schill at the moment and Jack Daw

  20. Leveticus vs Misaki (TT)

Hello guys, i'm relatively new to the game and never posted on a forum before (so excuses if i'm posting wrong or on the wrong topic). I am wondering how Levi will do against a Misaki TT crew. I made a crew with Levi (from ashes), Rusty (from the eather), Ashes, Gunslinger and Johan (plus two hollow waifs ofcourse). Crew is made for summoning abominations with no starting abo's. Misaki will probably be base crew plus katanaka sniper and a brother or two. Any ideas in advance?
  21. Truth for Hire

Hello everyone, I love writing a justification for non-standard crews coming together. One of my favorites is Mercenary Nellie and I will be bringing both her and Von Schill to the Together Fauxever tournament in February. Here's a little scene about how that unlikely duo came to be, enjoy. Truth for Hire “It needs more substance, more vibrancy!” Nellie thumbed quickly through the unfinished first draft from her newest reporter, circling spelling errors and inconsistencies with a fat red pen. She made long notes in the margins; filling in details she knew had to be present for the reader. “There, that’s a little better.” Nellie handed the draft back to the distressed young girl with a flower hat. She nervously took her draft and stared down at a flood of red ink, crossed out sentences, and re-written paragraphs. “Bring me your final draft to me tomorrow and make sure to follow my notes. You’re reporting on the Star Theatre, not some street-side juggler!” The reporter glared down at her paper, how she would make sense of the tangle of corrections and additions she didn’t know. She looked back up to ask how but Nellie was already busy at her own typewriter, fingers slamming the keys faster than she could see. With a resigned sigh she left the small office with the door cracked open, one small revenge before her inevitable termination. Not many people lasted long at The Tattler, every story had to be grandiose and exemplify The Truth, which was whatever Nellie wrote. The Tattler was bustling. A small room crammed with desks and typewriters in a constant frenzy of writing and re-writing. The Printing Press constantly churned out the latest edition, only stopping to refill its ink pots and collect more raw paper. The noise was blaring but Nellie hardly noticed. She wrote a more accurate report on the Star from memory and placed it haphazardly in the “Out” box on her ever crowded desk. She whistle - a door slammed louder than usual. Nellie looked and saw her door open a crack, one of her pet peeves. She got up in a huff and made to yell out on the floor but stopped short. “Who’s big idea was it!-“ Marching towards her, three Freikorps soldiers pounded across the floorboards. The churning office of the Tattler slowed as people turned to stare. The Printing Press paused its work and peaked around the corner to look. The lead Freikorps was a woman, her raven black hair held back in a tight bun and round spectacles held at the bottom of her nose. She walked with a steady confidence, some would say arrogance, but for the two hulking Freikorpsmen trailing just behind her. They openly carried huge pistols and knives longer than Nellie’s forearm, and were headed straight for her. “Nellie Cochrane!” The woman with black hair and glasses shouted as they approached. Nellie could swear she heard it in her mind more than her ears. A faint ringing echoed in her head for several seconds afterward. A chair fell over. Before Nellie could yelp Phiona appeared and pushed her back, raising a massive pickaxe. Her soulstone eye beamed red. “Back. Off.” Through gritted teeth, muscles tensed. The Freikorps stopped. The lead woman raised her hands in a sign of peace, and slowly produced a letter from a pocket on her suit. Phiona glared, but relaxed a fraction. Nellie poked out from behind and her eyes bounced between the woman and the letter. “For me?” “Congratulations Miss Cochrane, you’ve just hired the Freikorps.” Nellie shot out from behind Phiona and snatched the letter from the woman’s hand, her previous fear forgotten in an instant of excited frenzied letter opening. The letter was terse and to the point. ‘I accept’ Written in a quick sprawl by a very busy man with a red rose stamped underneath. A nice touch, thought Nellie. She looked back up to the woman, extending a gleeful hand. “Nellie Cochrane, pleased to meet you! You’ve just met my friend Phiona as well.” Nellie turned and waved down her friend and bodyguard, trying to calm her before anything impolite happened. She spun back to the Freikorps to catch the extended hand in greeting. “Miss Cochrane, a pleasure. I apologize that Von Schill could not make it in person today, but he will assuredly meet us before the event tomorrow.” “No worries, no problem!” Nellie kept shaking the woman’s hand. “Let me just grab a few things and we can get underway.” With a whoosh Nellie was back in her office, throwing supplies in her bag as quickly as she could. Pens, paper, more pens, extra ink, extra paper, extra pens and oh, a little more paper just in case. Nellie fled her office, letting the door smack against the frame and back to the wall. She whistled for the Press as she rushed passed Phiona and the Freikorps. She pointed at the two reporters in front of her. “You and you, let’s go. Phiona, you too!” She rushed out of the Tattler in a flurry. Phiona stalked past the woman with black hair and glasses, glaring with her red eye as she shoved past, grumbling under her breath. Hannah smirked and gestured for the two Freikorpsmen to follow the reporters. She whispered to herself, “I hope you know what you’re doing.”
