  1. So, a week after assembly, I'm happy to report that my spouse and I played Puppet Wars Unstitched a couple of times last night and had a blast! The first game was with the suggested armies (Lady Justice vs Seamus), and I got butchered playing Seamus. The second game we drafted armies taking turns, and it was Pokey Viktoria vs Lady Justice. Much closer game, and I won as Lady Justice, but we both decided that Pokey Viktoria's animation bonus seems a bit underpowered (not a whole lot of outcast models in the base game, and the bonus doesn't work on the Hooded Rider), so we started talking about house rules for Pokey. And here's where my questions to you kind folks start: Have any of you come up with good house rules for Pokey Viktoria? I'm thinking of "reduce the activation cost of all other puppets by 1", instead of reducing the costs of outcasts by 2... Does the Hooded Rider really not get any bonuses from Pokey? That seems so odd, given that he's one of so few outcast models in the box. Does the Bête Noire's "Sense Stuffing" action only work on adjacent puppets? That's how I played it, and it seemed underwhelming. I'm now wondering if it means that she can attack an exhausted puppet anywhere on the board, but then that seems a bit too powerful. I'm curious to hear how others play with these puppets... Thanks, PA

    Killjoy vs Hooded Rider

Ok, bear with me for a minute... I am looking to make an elite killing squad to run when I don't feel like unpacking a bunch of models (Collodi). Here are my thoughts so far... Lilith with Beckon Malifaux and Wicked Mistress Nekima Barbaros Mature Nephelim which leaves me with 13 points. I can either run Killjoy (nicely painted Carver) or Hooded Rider plus Fears Given Form on Nekima. Again, keep in mind that I am looking to drop an elite killing crew on the table, preferably keeping it at 5 models. Who would you run as your fifth model, and what upgrades would you toss in if extra points are available. Looking forward to hearing your answers. Thanks.
  6. I think the current diagram for the Hooded Rider's assembly has the legs of the Hooded Rider accidentally reversed, as can be seen from the thigh armor ridge, as well as the stirrup detailing, being on the inside of the legs. The box render is accurate, though. I was able to get mine separated quickly when I realized what was going on, but still...probably best to fix it when possible, especially for those using more potent glue.

    Collodi Slingshot

Hi everyone, I'm new to Malifaux and have ended up starting out with Lilith (love the nephilim) and Collodi (interesting play style). Malifaux seems to be about hiring crews based on certain objectives, but as I'm new I'm probably going to be running one build into come-what-may and see what happens. I'm having a little trouble designing my first Collodi crew, I've got an idea I'm thinking of as the 'Collodi Slingshot', but would be great to get some experienced opinions. 50ss (4ss remaining) (THE BUBBLE) - up to 17" movement (fast + pushes), central support toolbox Collodi - breathe life, strum the threads 3x Marionettes (THE SLINGSHOT) - coryphee delivery, punchy scheme runners Vasilisa - a friend to talk to Hooded Rider - retribution's eye (THE PELLET) - 16" charge, at least 20" movement (revel + friend), early mess-up-opponent-game-plan pieces 2x Coryphee Thanks!

    Hooded Rider Question

I am deciding my Gen Con order and trying not to go crazy and keep it between 100 and 140. Has anyone used the Hooded Rider? If so what is your experience with him? What masters does he like? I see some potential with him and Lilith making a mean combo. Otherwise he looks rather self sufficient.

    Hooded Rider

As the title says. This guy is 12 SS of investment for a late game monster and VP denier. When do you use him and how successful has he been for you?

    War

When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him. - Revelation 6:3-4
  13. So, i have a question for you guys. More of an Opinion piece i suppose, but i would like to hear how you feel. When it comes to the four riders i see a pretty consistant trend in their use. There seems to be a pretty obvious leaning in one way or the other that some of the riders are better than the others. Maybe it's what they bring to the faction, or maybe it's their ss cost for what they do. I am going to rank them on how i see them getting used (in frequency only) and i would love to hear some input as far as their usefulness in your own crews. Levi players, i would doubly love your opinion as you have the abililty to hire all four and so you've probably at least proxied each of them and can maybe give me some insight. (most of this comes from the last several years of reading battle reports and watching people post thier "is this a good list?" threads. And for two of the riders, it comes from my own experience.) 1. Dead Rider he is the one i see the most people hiring (odd that he is also the most expensive) His skills are pretty great, and the mobility he gives the resurrectionists is undeniably great. i know there is was a lot of debate that HtW2 is a bad thing, but more often than not, it's worked out in my favor. I do own him, and while he's no auto include, he does find his way into about 2/3 of my McMourning lists. 2. Mechanical Rider. This is the one i see taken next. Lots of Ramos players have hired her to add a quickness to the early game of Ramos. But there is a definite drop off here. It seems that she is taken less and less after the first couple of games that players use her in. I'm not sure why as i don't really read up on her since i don't play any crew that would hire her. 3. Hooded Rider. He and the Pale rider are really kind of tied for the bottom with the exception that i own this guy and occationally hire him into Lillith or Zoriada crews when i'm feeling frisky. He is basically just a giant target to distract the opponent until you can get the rest of your crew to them, or complete an objective or two. I like him, and at 8 points, he would see more table time if i played Neverborn more often. That said, i don't think i've seen him in a list on these forums in well over a year. maybe even 2. 4. Pale Rider. I want him. I want him to be useful. but i have not seen a single person talk about him on here. To me, that is worse than a few dozen posts about how useless a model is. Usually those posts are met with a fair amount of argument from the other side giving some kind of advice. albeit sometimes the criteria for the advice is super situational (look at the crooligans, or even Molly) I would love to pick this guy up and be plesantly surprised by him. even if he is somewhat useful at certain things (like the hooded rider). But i am worried that because of everyone's assumed indiference to him, that he's just not worth the cash, save maybe to paint. Any thoughts? am i way off base and just misssed the love for the other three? or has it pretty much come down to the Dead Rider being the good one, and the other three being paperweights unless you are a Levi player and can hire more than one? Let me know what you think! I would love to stir up a little appreciation for these models as i love their look and the idea of shifting abilities. It's cool stuff!
  14. Hello, I'm new to puppet wars, and just recently picked up a starter box. I have looked through the lists of the boosters however, and neither the hooded rider or Pokey Victoria are on the lists? Is there any way that I can go about obtaining them? They happen to be my favorite sculpts of the whole bunch. Thanks for the help!
