  2. Hey everyone! We're still helping people get acquainted to the 2018 rules, so we'll do another mini event with the new Strategies and Schemes. STRATEGY: Ours A victor gives no quarter! Divide the table into four 18" by 18" table Quarters. Victory Points At the end of every Turn after the first, add up the Soulstone cost of all friendly non-Peon models in each table Quarter, not counting any models that were summoned this game or that are within any other table Quarters or 6" of the Center of the table. (Leaders count as having a cost of 10). The Crew with the highest Soulstone cost within each table Quarter controls it. If a Crew controls at least two table Quarters, that Crew earns 1 VP. SCHEMES: Guarded Treasure What's better than guarding a big, fat, stack of loot. This Scheme may not start revealed. Reveal this Scheme once this Crew has earned any VP from it. At the end of every Turn after the first, this Crew earns 1 VP if it has at least two Scheme Markers within 2" of the Centerline, at least 8" apart, and each have at least 1 friendly non-Peon, non-Minion model within 3". After scoring, remove all friendly Scheme Markers within 2" of the Centerline. 5: Undercover Entourage It is vital that an important person be delivered into enemy territory. This Scheme may not start revealed. When you choose this Scheme, note down one of this Crew’s Master or Henchman models. At the end of the game, if the chosen model is in the opponent’s half of the table, this Crew earns 1 VP. If the chosen model is in the enemy Deployment Zone at the end of the game, this Crew earns 1 additional VP. If the chosen model is in the opponent’s half of the table at the end of the game and has half or more of its Wounds remaining, this Crew earns 1 additional VP. 6: Inescapable Trap Bring them all together, then spring the trap! It will work, trust me. This Scheme may not start revealed. Reveal this Scheme once this Crew has earned any VP from it. At the end of the every Turn after the first, this Crew earns 1 VP if two or more enemy non-Peon models are within 3" of one or more Scheme Markers friendly to this Crew. Then, remove one qualifying Scheme Marker. 7: Show of Force Sometimes showing up well-armed is all you need to put down a riot. This Scheme may not start revealed. Reveal this Scheme once this Crew has earned any VP from it. At the end of every Turn after the first, count the number of face-up Upgrades with a printed cost greater than 0 attached to each non-Master model within 6” of the center of the board for each Crew. Upgrades which began the game attached to a Master do not count toward this total. If this Crew has at least one qualifying Upgrade and has a number of qualifying Upgrades equal to or exceeding the opposing Crew’s number of qualifying Upgrades, this crew earns 1 VP. 8: Search the Ruins In order for the ritual to go off without a hitch, your crew has to harness the magical energies of the ley line running beneath the battlefield. This Scheme may not start revealed. At the end of the game, this Crew earns 2 VP if it has 3 or more Scheme Markers within 6” of the Center of the board and not within 2" of other friendly Scheme Markers.   3. Due to the interest in the new gaining grounds for 2018, our next event with have some of the updated Schemes & Strategies. DEPLOYMENT: Standard STRATEGY: Ply for Information Knowing your opponent is half the battle. On any Turn after the first, non-Peon models may take a (1) Interact Action targeting an enemy model they are engaged with that does not have the Gathered Intel Condition to gain the following Condition until the end of the game: Gathered Intel: This Condition is removed if this model suffers Severe damage. Victory Points At the end of every Turn after the first, if a Crew has more models in play with the Gathered Intel Condition than the opposing crew, that Crew earns 1 VP. Then remove the Gathered Intel Condition from every model in play. SCHEMES: Always: Surround Them Attack your enemy from all sides. This Scheme may not start revealed. At the end of the game, this Crew earns 1 VP if it has a Scheme Marker within 6" of a Table Corner in the enemy crew's deployment zone. At the end of the game, this Crew earns 1 VP for each other Table Corner with a friendly Scheme Marker within 6" (up to a maximum of 2 VP.) Only one Table Corner within this Crew's Deployment Zone may count towards this Scheme. Covert Breakthrough The Crew must push into enemy territory, but keep quiet about it! This Scheme may not start revealed. At the end of the game, this Crew earns 1 VP for each of its Scheme Markers within 6” of the enemy Deployment Zone. Dig Their Graves Or put their head on a pike. Whatever floats your boat. This Scheme may not start revealed. Reveal this Scheme once this Crew has earned any VP from it. Once per turn, after this Crew kills or sacrifices an enemy non-Peon model that is within 4" of one or more Scheme Markers friendly to this Crew, this Crew earns 1 VP. After Scoring, your opponent may remove one Scheme Marker friendly to your Crew within 4" of the killed or sacrificed model. Set Up Get the enemy right where you want them and then knock them down. This Scheme may not start revealed. When you choose this Scheme, note down an enemy Master, Henchman, or Enforcer model. Once per game, at the end of any Turn, this Crew may reveal this Scheme to earn a number of VP equal to the number of this Crew’s Scheme Markers within 4” of the noted enemy model.   5. Malifaux... On Ice! "Factions vye for power in a winter wonderland of ice left in Rasputina's wake. Anyone not properly equipped couldn't get their footing and were quickly dispatched. All other laced up and got ready to turn the terrain to their advantage." The denizens of Malifaux who've dealt with Rasputina before have come prepared with ice skates this time, allowing for some tricky movement. SETUP CHANGES: All models gain: "Forward Momentum: At the end of their activation, this model may push 2" for each walk action they took."   6. Hey everyone, I hope your keeping warm this winter! For the first Friday Night Fight in December, we'll be doing Gift Exchange Theme Event on 12/01! SETUP CHANGES: Replace strategy with: Gift Exchange: All models may take a "(1) This is for you: target model gains the Presents +1 condition." interact action if they are engaged with the target model. At the end of each turn, whichever team has the least cumulative Presents condition gains +1 VP and the team with the most gains +1 Soulstone, then remove the Presents condition from all models. In the event of a tie both players gain +1 VP & +1 Soulstone.
  7. Hey everyone! Apologies for the late posting, I was on the other side of the breach until today. For the next Friday Night Fight, we'll just be doing a simple Henchman Hardcore night for Black Friday. Same rules as normal: Restrictions: Henchman Hardcore is different from standard Malifaux in the following ways: All Crews must be led by a Henchman, not a Master. The game size is 20 Soulstones. All Crews must contain exactly 4 models, no more, no less. Upgrades may be purchased, as allowed by the standard rules of Malifaux. The size of a Crew’s Soulstone Pool is limited by the Cache of the Henchman leading it; any Soulstones above this amount are discarded. Any Actions, Abilities, or Triggers which summon models are considered to be “blank” (they may not be used and have no effect on the game, as if they were not printed on the model). Only one Scheme will be available. The same Crew must be used in each round of the event. Set Up: All rounds use the following set up: Deployment: Close. Strategy: Hardcore Turf War. This Strategy uses the Turf War rules (Core Rulebook pg. 66) with the exception that VP may be scored on the first Turn. Scheme Pool: Assassinate (Core Rulebook pg. 68).   8. Thanksgiving is almost here! We'll be running a Cornucopia event on Friday 11/17. Setup Changes: No strategy beyond the theme strategy will be chosen Place a 50mm Cornucopia marker in the center of the board All models gain Swallow You Whole Ml 6 Rst: Df / TN: 13: Target enemy model is sacrificed unless the enemy player discards two cards or soulstones. This attack may only target a model afflicted with the Fattened Up condition. Gameplay Changes: If a model interacts in base contact with the Cornucopia marker they gain the condition "Fattened Up: This model gains -1 Wk" until the end of the game. At the end of each turn after the first a player gain +1 VP if they control at least one model within 6" of the Cornucopia that has the Fattened Up condition.
  9. Hey everyone, sorry I was out for the last week or so. I'm back now and that means Friday Night Fights are back as well! This week will be something a little different, introducing: Malifaux Skills: Soulstone Edition Every so often we'll try to run an event that works on your ability to use different skills related to playing Malifaux. Games will be run the same as normal with these exceptions: Setup: No Change Gameplay: Everytime a player uses a Soulstone in a different way, they will gain +1 VP Each turn, both players gain +1 Soulstone.   10. Next Friday (10/13) we will be hosting a themed game! Pumpkin Patch Normally on Earthside a pumpkin patch is a rather mundane necessity, where pumpkins are grown to be eaten by humans. But in Malifaux the roles are not always so clear. Setup: Each player places (3) 30mm "Pumpkin" markers on the opponent's side of the board at least 3" away from the center-line, the enemy's deployment zone, and any other marker. Play: Whenever a model is within 3" of a "Pumpkin" marker, that models controller flips a card which may not be cheated and removes the marker after determining the effects based on the card's suit. - Pumpkin Pie: Immediately make an un-cheatable 1/2/3 healing flip on the model that caused the marker to be removed - Rampant Growth: Place a 30mm "Vines" marker in base contact with the "Pumpkin" marker before it is removed. Terrain within 3" of the "Vines" marker is considered severe terrain. Remove the "Vines" marker at the end of the turn. - Jack-o-Lantern: Each model within 3" take a TN 14 DF duel or suffer +2 Burning - The Great Pumpkin: Each model within 3" suffers a un-cheatable 1/2/4 damage flip Jokers act normally. i.e. Nothing Happens on a Black Joker and you can choose the suit on a Red Joker At the end of the turn each player places a new "Pumpkin" marker on the board at least three inches away from any other model, for each "Pumpkin" marker they removed on the previous turn.   11. Next Friday (10/13) we will be hosting a Friday the Thirteenth inspired game! Welcome Counselors to Camp Malifaux, it's time for a scary story! (Play for effect!) Setup: · Choose Hunter & Counselors · Hunter places (6) 32mm “Camper” scheme markers on the field at least 6” from the table edge and any other “Camper” neutral scheme markers · Counselors deploy within 6 inches of the center · Hunter deploys in base contact of any board edge · Hand size is restricted to 4 cards. · All models lose the ability to summon models · The first to 5 VP wins, due to the shortness of game length it is recommended that you switch roles and play a second game. Hunter: · The Hunter is any one non-master model (0 point models are valued at 10 points!) totaling 13 points or less after upgrades are attached. · The Hunter gains: Bloodlust: After killing an enemy model, this model gains reactivate. · The Hunter gains: (0) “IT’S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!” (Ca: 6 / TN: 11 / Rg: -): This action may only be taken if no enemy model can draw LoS to this model. Place this model anywhere completely within 10” that is also within 1” of blocking terrain. This model may not take charge actions for the remainder of the activation. · Whenever the Hunter kills or sacrifices an enemy model they gain +1 VP Counselors: · The Counselors are made up of any combination (even those from other factions) of exactly 5 non-master models totaling up to 35ss including upgrades (Any 1 model is chosen as your “Leader” within regular restrictions) · All counselors lose their Attack Actions for the duration of the game · Counselors may interact with Camper scheme markers to gain +1 VP; if they do so, the Hunter may choose to place their model in base contact with the Camper scheme marker before it is removed.   12. Next Friday (10/6) we will be hosting The Floor is Lava! The ground is lava! (hazardous terrain*) Similar to the children's game there will be a "grace period" to standing on it though 50ss & Single Faction Lava: A model that begins or ends its activation in terrain that is considered lava is dealt 1/2/4 damage and gains "Hot Feet +1: this model gains +1 movement and is dealt +1 damage on Lava damage flips.". The opposing player flips for Lava damage, which may not be cheated. A model may only suffer damage once during each Turn; it is immune to further damage from that piece of terrain during that Turn. Each Friday (in addition to running demos) we'll be holding some small events! This Friday (8/18) will be a small 3 round game of Henchman Hardcore. Henchmen lead (you don't pay for your Leader) 20 SS 4 models -- no more, no less 3 turns 45 minutes a game (including setup) Deployment is Close Strategy is Turf War Scheme is Assassinate So basically just your normal rules with an extra 15 minutes for each round. What: February Malifaux 2E Demoing and Open Gaming When: The 1st and 3rd Friday of February (and essentially every other month) open play both nights, and for February, Demos on February 19th 7:30 p.m. until 12:00 midnight (Not having demos the first week of the month in February is only due to an event conflict, most months we will have demos the 1st and 3rd Fridays) Where: Ground Zero Comics 15139 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, OH 44136 (440) 572-9599 The new Ground Zero is up and running, with Malifaux play on Fridays. We elected for the first and third Friday, rather than every Friday, to try and boost the concentration of players on the two game nights rather than spreading out attendance throughout the month. I am available to demo the game from 7:30 pm-12:00 am on those nights. You are welcome to simply stop by, but if you would like to ensure I will not already be demoing with another player, don't hesitate to contact me.
