Homes are being decorated or fortified. And while some may receive delicious treats others might receive sharp and biting barbs or blades. This is an extremely casual and beginner friendly event though some experience with the system and materials are required for play. Players will utilize 50 SS crews. Refuge Gaming in Brunswick Ohio is hosting our first Gaining Grounds Season 2 Tournament on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Registration will begin at 9:30 am and first round will begin no later than 10:30 am. Event length will depend on the number of participants. This is a 50 SS, fixed faction event. Strategy and Scheme pools will be posted 1 week prior to the event and QR codes will be included in the Tournament Pack. Cost for the event is $10.00. Fees may be paid in advance by contacting us through the website or on the day of event. Participants "day pass" is included in the event cost. This is a competitive event however, beginners are welcome. Participants are encouraged to utilize the free M3e App to track games, those who do not must ensure their cards incorporate the latest erratas. Additionally, be sure to familiarize yourself with the current FAQ Document prior to arrival at the event. If you are planning to use the M3e App be sure it is updated prior to arrival at Refuge Gaming. All models must be assembled but, as per the Gaining Grounds document, painting is not required. Because there are several new unreleased models in M3E, proxies for these models will be acceptable so long as they clearly represent the model, are on the correct base size, and you inform your opponent in advance. Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd places as well as the "Lanterne Rouge" Recipient. If there are more than 3 participants with "fully" painted legal crews a painting prize may be awarded. Okay people, it's time to get regular weekly play going again in the Akron area! Starting the week of September 9th, we will be running a weekly league at the shop. This will run a maximum of 10 weeks based on the number of players. For more specifics about structure and rules see the following post here. The weeks following the conclusion of the league will be single-elimination playoffs until we have a league champion. There will be participation prizes as well as various raffles. Feel free to ask me any questions here, by PM, or in the JAC Forums. Hope to see plenty of people in the shop this year! EDIT: Corrected how the league will conclude.

I will be hosting a Malifaux demo day at Orc's Forge Games at Tuttle Crossing Mall in Dublin, Ohio on May 5, 2018. Demos will begin at 11am and last until 4pm. Malifaux casual play at OFG begins at 4pm so demos may carry over or you can just come hang out with some of central Ohio's Wyrdos. GG2018, 3 rounds, 50ss, fixed faction. Strats follow GG2018 rotation with schemes announced on the day. No painting requirements, but everybody likes to see some color on the table. Special awards for best painted. Shop opens at noon with the first round starting at 12:30pm. Entry fees will be turned into store credit for prizes. The last Friday of every month is Malifaux night at JAC Games in Akron, Ohio! Come in after work for a night of Malifaux Games and prize raffles! There is a participation fee of $5 which goes towards a store credit raffle that is matched by the store. The more people that come, the more people that can win! We pair off between 4:30 and 5:30 as people show up and have a second pairing at 7-8pm as people wrap up their games if they want to stay later. We also do a discount on Malifaux products for the day as detailed in the post linked below by the Owner Chris. New for the next three months, we are going to be running an escalation league to give some of our newer players an opportunity to build their crews up over time. This month will be crew-box games, so we will be playing games sized to the contents of your crew box. I will work with anyone who chooses a crew box that may come with less points than others, so just grab what sounds fun (or dust off that one crew you forgot that you picked up last year) and join us for some escalation fun! Happy Holidays Cleveland Wyrdoos! I'll be running another fun league this January at Ground Zero Comics and Games. 15139 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, Ohio 44136 440-572-9599. Every Saturday in January from 12:30pm-5:30pm. We'll be getting everyone up to speed on GG2018 and the January errata using the Wyrd league format. Points will be scored for participation, hobby and sportsmanship, not how many games you win. This is a great opportunity to get back into the game and introduce new players to the world of Malifaux. I'll be posting shared strats and schemes every week. Play one or all four Saturdays and you'll be eligible for prizes and guilders.

Halloween Story Encounters at Ground Zero Comics and Games, 15139 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, Ohio 44136. Saturday 10/28 from 12:30pm-5:30pm. I'll have a variety of Halloween story encounters available to play. These encounters tend to go faster than a typical game, may have up to four players and involve candy eating requirements. Rumble on the River is a 16 player Malifaux Tournament taking place in the kindly Appalachian Valley! We will be playing at the NEW Lost Legion Games and Comic: The Vault in Vienna, West Virginia! Same building, just next door with a lot more room. The date of the event will be Saturday, October 14th 2017 and registration will start at 10:30. The address of The Vault is 517 21st St; Vienna, WV; 26105. Here is a link that will generate a Google Maps route for you! This will be a Fixed Faction Gaining Grounds 2017 tournament with each game being 50ss and having a game time of 2 hours. There will not be a painting requirement and distinguishable proxies are acceptable. This tournament is intended to be beginner friendly and we would be more than happy to answer questions at any point and have accommodations as needed. If there are an odd number of participants, a ringer match will try to be arranged instead of a bye. In the case of a ringer match, the participant will be given a win but their tournament Diff&VP will be affected by the match. In the case of a bye, the player will receive a win, the average whole positive match Differential, and the average whole match VP. Placings will be prioritized by TP, Differential, then VP. Winnings will be from a tournament kit that some promise breakers have dropped extra goods into. There will be a $10 entry fee to cover space used and a set of commemorative scheme markers. Hosting this event will be Henchmen AJ Miller and Joseph Menear.

I will be hosting an Achievement League at Orc’s Forge Games starting on 9/22/17 and ending on 10/13/17. If you are not familiar with what an achievement league is you can check out the official Wyrd document here: https://www.wyrd-games.net/resources. Open “Organized Play Formats” and then the Rapid Growth pdf. The achievement lists begin on page five. The breakdown is this, you are given a list of achievements or goals to accomplish during a league game of Malifaux. Some are hobby related, some are competitive some are just fun. You acquire points for each achievement completed. Points are totaled at the end of the league. League nights will be Friday nights at Orc’s Forge Games starting around 7 pm. League games may be played at a different time if needed. Your achievement sheet will need to be signed by an employee of Orc’s Forge Games if played on a non-league night. You are encouraged to show up on league nights. There is even an achievement for it. There will be an entry fee of the purchase of a $10 gift card for OFG. All participants will receive a Guilder, prizes will be given at the end of the league and various prizes and raffles will be given and held on league nights. Dragon's Roost Rapid Growth League Starts this September

We are developing critical mass at the Dragon's Roost! To help this along and foster our new group of players we are organizing a rapid growth league to help everyone get some games in and accelerate the hobby aspect of the game. We will be meeting on August 28th (our usual Malifaux night at the store) to hand out the materials to participants with a league start date of September 5th and ending September 26th for a total of 4 weeks. There will be awards for all participants as well as prize support from Wyrd for 1st-3rd place for point total at the end of the league. This league is not dependent on Win/Loss, but rather achievements for playing and painting your crews. It will be held at the Dragon's Roost located 6600 W. Sylvania Ave, STE 3C Sylvania, Ohio If you have any questions, please contact me here on the forum or stop by the store! -

Announcing a custom Story Encounters Event for the Cleveland Area. Warzone Matrix is hosting a one-day event on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 1:00 pm. The Store is located at 4704 Rocky River Dr, Cleveland, OH 44135 Additional: Event Cost: Free This event will utilize a custom story encounter designed by our local community. Players will negotiate a small enclave in the Bayou, complete with trailers, abandoned cars, and screaming Tots. Help the Guild clean up the filth. Proxies will be allowed as long as they represent their base model. This is an extremely casual event that is intended to be fun and build the Malifaux community. Sportsmanship is a large component of this, in short, games should be engaging and fun, not "soul crushing." All player levels are welcome, even those playing their very first full games. Think of these games as more of creating an engaging narrative than honing your tournament lists. Painted crews are highly encouraged but not mandatory. This event will utilize the Official Wyrd Event Prize Pack and may have a few additional offerings based upon participation. At the least, each player will receive a Guilder (Poker Chip of various denomination) for participating in the event. Other prizes will be awarded via raffle at the end of the event.
