  1. McCabe, Shadow Emissary, Yas, TerraC. Badge of Speed on Emissary (after deployment via Conflux of Exploration). Toss it to Yas, he pushes, he is fast. Now he is nimble and fast. He threatens most of the board. Sonnia can't hide. Or... you could use Strongarm Suit. He can't be tied up and blasts do nothing. Shen sniper crew is glorious. Two Katanaka Snipers can put tons of pressure on her with two focus shots a piece to start the game. Get some cover. Activate them early. Sue is great in a Shenlong list for the spell bubble.
  2. It can be pretty devastating, but just deny him LOS, and go scheme. You could deploy markers (Lilith, Carrion Emissary type stuff), lure, blast, alpha strike them, tar pit them, force WP checks (terror), activation control, etc. There are lots of things you can do, but it's no picnic. As a TT player I know the pain that can be facing a Shen gun line.
  3. ALSO --- Love that you took Lust with McCabe. Lust is great for 8SS.
  4. Yasonori and Emissary are gross with McCabe - even at the extra soul stone to Yas. I LOVE Yu, and I want him to work so bad, but I just can't justify the 11 points (w/ Wandering River) to make him worth it. Maybe with Lynch...?
  5. Shenlong Shadow Em. (Conflux) Monk of Low Gwen Maddox. Had 10 cards in hand - and I got to look at 12.
  6. Emissary > Conflux > Deploys > Free Badge of Speed> Free Nimble > Toss Saber to Yas > Yas gets pushed and is now nimble. > Rite of Strength on Yas > He is pushed again and now Fast. Ouch.
  7. A fair point. Could be a bit of a trap.
  8. Good point! You are starting on the back foot.
  9. Ah crap - forgot about that, but yeah - there is some TC shenanigan potential. Looks like I am topping out at Chi +3.
  10. Yeah, I saw that Charm Warder one. I like it, but man, the Charm Warder is SO good. Someone could simply condition remove your disguise. Good point on the Seishin. Damn - didn't think of that. My proposal only requires 1 Severe if I am counting right... Producing the Seishin requires a 6+ (mod) Mold of the Other requires a 7+ (mod) Severe Damage requires an 11+ (Severe)
  11. ...but is it worth it? So I've been thinking about how one could do this without causing a lot of strife to my own crew and I think I have it, but I'm looking for some feedback here. 1. Goryo: I free you of my will - get a Seshin. 2. Terra slaps the Seishin with Ancient Protection. 3. Yan Lo - Pitches something like "Follow" and a card to start off with +2 Chi. 4. Yan Lo - Severes the Seshin (TC takes it, pitches a card for 0 damage). +1 Chi. 5. Yan Lo - kills the Seishin for a final +1 totaling a Chi of = +4. 6. Toshi can use the Seshin corpse at some point to get an Ashi. 7. Sun can heal the Goryo. The bad: At least a 6+ for the Seishin. At least a +11 for the Severe. A throw away card for the TC protection. A throw away card for the Chi +1. Obviously it's card intensive. The good: You are getting 4 more AP out of Yan Lo (assuming 5 turns). And a robust Mouth Light to smite your enemies with... You are not losing any models to get him there. (consider the Ashi an upgrade over the Seishin)
  12. He can't keep it up the whole game but he can keep applying it to himself. People have mentioned how. One thing to remember is that he can do a (0) Action during the "Shenlong Phase" (after initiative flips) which means he can set up his (0) prior to activating to get defensive. It may be possible your opponent is doing this? Or maybe he is using the (0) at the end of his activation to get defensive? Having the ability to do a (0) out of activation to get defensive as well as winning a duel with Low River Style (potentially out of activation) may give you a feeling he is always defensive, because he usually is always defensive.
  13. On paper I think the Obsidian Statue will be gross with him.
  14. @SAYNE, good stuff... I can't really comment on Langston - other than to say I'd love having a pushed nimble and fast one - because I don't face Arcanists enough in my local, but what you speak of is something that interests me in playing Arcanists as my next faction. As for thematic distinction it is personally lost on me. As a TT player, with an active imagination, I can conjure up any thematic fluff idea as to why certain models may work together for a particular match. Outside of experimentation I am just looking to build a crew that I think has the best chance of winning the encounter. I suppose you'd say I lean more competitive than thematic, so I don't personally see it as a problem, if the problem is thematic synergy. As for Yan Lo. I'd likely skip Izamu and take the Obsidian Statue.
  15. What experiences are you having with the new and improved Yan Lo?
