  1. Found this on the wallpaper section. Correct me if I am misremembering, but wasn't Grimwell unable to hire nurses at this point given 2e dreamer?
  2. To be fair, programming is outside of Wyrd's wheelhouse, a licensed game by a dedicated developer would probably be a better outcome. That would need a company to show interest in buying the rights however, and since it isn't that big of a franchise, and indie devs like making their own dreams, this is highly unlikely. I personally believe that Malifaux has the strength of aesthetic to pull in an audience beyond fans of the IP (the Shadowrun Returns series did this for example), but I still hate how much of a pipe dream this is, I would love a Malifaux game.
  3. What about being able to discard cards, with that being how you trigger suits off of abilities on top of adding odds to whatever action you are taking?
  4. I would like to see either a rougue-like where you either have access to eight units from each faction (plus player leader) and survive day to day. Units level up on kill or gaining VP, emphasizing the strategies and schemes from permadeath discouraging going full in on combat. I would feel like keeping it to the original 5 factions may be best, both for workload as well as the O5 having the most coherent aesthetics and gameplans. The bigger question is how to include a 'cheat fate' mechanic both for its importance to the source and ability to use both of Malifaux's taglines ("cheat fate or lose you soul" and "Bad Things Happen") for marketing purposes. As well as including soulstones. Although the concept of resources that you can use in a replenishable manner in combat being an important currency is an interesting one with a lot of interesting design space. Of course, you could also do a more story focused game, but Malifaux's factions pose an obvious problem. You could have multiple campaigns (a lot of work), or characters from factions joining up (which is difficult and would need a lot of characters.
  5. Events from the Obsidian Gate event also suggest that their forces will contain Arabian Djinn, Hindu Asura and Chinese Yoagai, and hopefully even some European demons. Albeit I must admit that I cannot confirm the last. Banasuva also seems to be one of such creatures.
  6. I am in the campaign, and an Indian spirit makes an appearance at one point.
  7. Question is exactly what the title says, in the current game there are more than just Japanese creatures that are posing a challenge, with creatures from other mythologies making appearances. My question is whether Kimon is going to be comprised solely of Oni, or if western Demons, assorted mythological creatures, as well as Indian, Korean, or Chinese spirits will also make appearances.
  8. So is the Undying Box basically an alternate starter set then?
  9. Yeah, I should have seen that response coming. I did not properly articulate the concept I was describing. I was meaning along the lines of a very generic pursuit, like the one's in the core book, based around social situations and being good at cunning to complete an intelligence/academic charm/performer triad for social pursuits. Should have just said that. Also, I feel like 'Agitator' would be a better name than Propagandist. Different conotations come with the word. One suggests someone whose entire purpose is to rile people up and will them with strong emotions, the other suggests someone who "interprets" facts and distributes them through a network.
  10. So this is basically the agitator class then? Definitely seems very interesting. Albeit is means that the investigator and face (cunning, talks their way out of things, acts like they belong. etc.) pursuits that I feel are missing from the game will not appear for a while, NB book will likely contain much more specific classes like those form under quarantine.
  11. So it is basically a fixer class? A class that has you begin the game knowing people who are important who can help you rather than having to forge these relationships through gameplay. This feels like something that will be very GM dependent on how interesting it is, a bad FM will have this class feel very mechanical while a good one will make it feel like you are playing the powerful connected character. Interested to see how this plays out.
  12. More likely a reporter will be placed with other investigative characters in a sort of investigator class. Along with a cunning/face pursuit it is one of the two pursuits the game needs to add. How about players who want to dedicate themselves to heavy guns? Also, 10T book? Is that replacing the Avatar/high level play book, or is it going to come after it? Especially since I thought the avatar thing had been acknowledged as a sort of failed gimmick.
  13. Would this also work for players who would like to dedicate themselves to bows or thrown weapons?
  14. The winner doesn't die. Nicodem is going to be dead in lore. Admitedly though I am annoyed at the fact that the thunders had to be involved in this, why couldn't Nico and J just find and kill each other the old fashioned way? The thunders never seem to lose and manage to manipulate everyone like puppets and its kinda annoying to me.
  15. I had tried to set up a game on vassal last year with people around the forum, but that fell through. Would any one there be willing to show me the ropes on the game? I don't own any models, and the fact that I am in university and have no interest in the painting aspect means that I likely never will.
  16. Remember though, this is yours. Don't let anything I say change that. I am only one person. Wish there was more input towards this for that reason.
  17. Oh, I didn't realize that delivering the children to the neverborn was something that came from a Wyrd chronicles, I had thought you had come up with it yourself. With that in mind, you may want to focus on when the "debt" occurred, whether Cooper formed the carnival in response to the whole event, or if it was already in existence and simply became murderous later on. I would maybe suggest that the carnival existed before everything went wrong, perhaps in a different area of Malifaux. Maybe Cooper had some Nephilem or other neverborn in a sort of freak-show with the other performers, and the enraged neverborn tried to avenge themselves by kidnapping someone close to him. A child or lover definitely works. Some of the criticism stems from how I dislike how the nephilim often seem to be portrayed as being "always chaotic evil" in a sense, which is not on you.
  18. Not trying to be overly critical, but while the story goes really, really well for the first few acts, I feel like the reveal at the end doesn't really live up to everything we have seen so far. Here is a man who has an entire caravan of freaks and horrors, and who controls the minds of his audience, forcing them to watch entranced as he murders people live on stage and then steals their children from right in front of their eyes. The reason? His child has kidnapped by neverborn and he has been desperately trying to get her back. It's not a bad motivation, but it doesn't fit the scale or the needlessly grotesque performance, why would be go through all the trouble to form a group of carny's and learn mind control magic when he could simply kidnap children? It also doesn't explain why he murders people live on stage. A dark pact is certainly the right way to go with this story, but I don't think this one really fits. I am genuinely am sorry to write this, you put a lot of hard work into it, and I am definitely impressed.
  19. The false leads feel a bit obvious. The other leads are vague, while the others are obvious. Perhaps on a small margin of failure they hear the obvious false lead (they give large and concise information rather than cryptic clues that must be pieced together), while in larger margin of error you hear something more plausibly strange, like how the disappearances only occur on a weekly basis, or how the weather is acting off, or how some bodies have been found eaten by animals that don't live in this part of Malifaux. Another option would be giving the players concise information on a large margin of success. Still, great job so far.
  20. I like this idea. How about we section the characters into the factions, as it ensures that people can quickly figure out which they should toss together for a campaign rather than have to deal with what I honestly find the most difficult part of any campaign: Finding a way for 4+ strangers who have never met to become willing to risk their lives for each other and why they shouldn't walk away the first instant they get. That is not to say that you wouldn't be able to mix and match Guild: The players are all members of the guild, probably a patrol of guards. Arcanists: The players are all arcanist operatives. Ressers: The characters are all part of the same small circle of reserructionists. Nevers: skip Outcasts: Mercenary or a gang of criminals. Gremlins: Less sure about this one, the players are likely to all come from different, potentially feuding families, but humans and Gremilins do not work together much either. Thunders: Thunders agents, probably leg breakers or deniable assets. (x) means a variable, be it a character name or the keystone for their fate. Here are some I have had for outcasts : (sawbones): x was born to x. Her parents position, caused her to focus on studying to become a doctor to escape their situation/ inspired her to use her fortunate position to learn how to help others. They came to Malifaux from a Guild recruitment program trying to get more doctors. The reason for the lack of doctors came abundantly clear when the she was helping a man whose arms had been broken, only for a pair of criminals to show up angered by the idea that she had the 'nerve' to help someone they had harmed. They killed the man, torched her clinic and demonstrated an intent to sell her to a local brothel. She found herself breaking the Hippocratic oath that day. Since then she has been more careful about how she helps others, with a mask, an alias, and by acting like a sociopathic (but incredibly competent) doctor she has given herself a measure of protection. Carrying a pistol around has helped too. 1.Grace 2.Speed 3.Resilience 4. Might 1.Intelligence 2.Tenacity 3.Cunning 4.Charm (forgotten): x came to Malifaux as a literal slave to a high ranking member of the Guild. Each day was a grind, an unpleasant experience of nodding his head and forcing a smile while he helped his master in their study. Then came the day where he was killed by x, killed by the person he had been forced to serve every day of his miserable life. Jack Daw arrived that night, and when his army of tormented souls and corpses tore everyone in the house apart, he was among them. Since then he has wandered, aimlessly adrift. His mind is slowly returning to him, but in the meantime he still keeps to the sides of the room, he stays quiet, and he hopes others don't notice him. Especially since the revelation would likely lead to his second, and final, death. 1.Speed 2. Grace 3. Resilience 4. Might 1.Cunning 2. Charm 3. Tenacity 4. Intelligence (boomer) x saw mercenaries as glamorous, hardened warriors who feared nothing, and who the weak would bow before, clutching their valuables to their chest as they begged the mercenary for help, who the rich would invite into their homes with a hearty laugh as their listened to tales of adventure and heroism. Then he came to Malifaux. It quickly became clear how wrong his perception had been. It took him months to find his first job, which he botched, leading to him receiving a poor reputation among the mercenaries of Malifaux. His second job involved him sitting in the sewers of Malifaux guarding a mysterious door for an anonymous source. He stuck with the job for two years until the scrip stopped coming, curious he opened the door and found out that it was the makeshift laboratory of a resurrection who had just been killed by his own creations. Once again, he has found himself out of employment, with most being put off by the smell he accrued down in the sewers. 1.Grace 2. Resilience 3. Might 4. Speed 1.Resilience 2. Cunning 3. Charm 4. Intellect (pugilist) x has been a rabble-rouser since the day she learned her first swear word from mommy. She joined riots whenever she could, and even started a few when she was felt like someone deserved to have their ego damaged. Of course causing violence and doing one's best to damage the property of those in power tends to make a lot of enemies, and eventually she was shipped off to go work in the soul stone mines, only to be saved by a coughing maniac and a soft spoken gunslinger who were also self proclaimed anarchists there to rescue one of their own. However when it became clear that it became clear that their philosophy of tearing organizations apart from the inside and her idea of running around breaking thing were irreconcilable, they left her in the closest town with a small pouch of scrip. 1. Resilience 2. Might 3. Speed 4. Grace (gravedigger) x always had somewhat of a fascination with life and the human soul. He always wondered what it was, and what lay beyond. While the Guild makes an effort to suppress such knowledge, when he heard rumors of peoples who could raise the dead and devour souls he made to get his affairs in order at the university he worked at before moving there. While many with such desires find their minds filled with horrible whispers that teach them the art of necromancy, x learned it the same way he learned everything, with method and dedication. While still new to the art his founds have begun to become a bit scarce, and has recently began searching for a way to both test his skills and earn some scrip. 1. Speed 2. Grace 3. Might 4. Resilience 1.Tenacity 2. Cunning 3. Intellect 4. Charm (drudge) x has used a pneumatic saw that she stole from the union to help out her gang with various small scale heists over the years, however when they finally planned to hit something big, namely a train full of machine parts, that things went wrong. It had nothing to do with the plan, or the crew, but rather the fact that another gang had the same idea, the ensuing gun fight left most dead on both sides, and when the Guard arrived she found herself the only one escaping. 1. Resilience 2. Might 3. Speed 4. Grace 1. Charm 2. Tenacity 3. Cunning 4. Intellect Ressurectionist: (one good starting point could be a resser ball that finds itself raided by marshals) (ghost eater) x, the "soul tyrant". Cliche and over the top even for his fellow resserectionist, x who insists on going by the title of 'soul tyrant' x is a ghost eater who appeared in Malifaux little under a week ago, and seems to have already decided that he will become the next great ressurectionist to terrify the city of Malifaux.
  21. This guide is actually really useful, and I was wondering if you had any plans to add things added in Into the Bayoux?
  22. Journalist and investigator could be rolled up together into one. Both are people who look into things and figure out the various facts behind them. Could make for an interesting social class, with access to Sherlock scans and abilities that allow you to insinuate innuendo into conversation and learn info on things without people figuring out what you are doing. No idea what the lawyer would play like, but considering how they are one of the most popular units for the guild, I would bet money on them being either a pursuit or an advances pursuit. Personally I am curious about what the new tarot will be (if there is one) and what it's backstory keystone would be. (perhaps place of birth.) By the way does anyone know how to change signatures?
  23. Well, I remember making a forum a long time ago to come up with ideas for how the characters would look. Gotta say, the three that have been shown have definitely impressed. I did not foresee the teddy being so large though, I thought the thing was the size of a human teddy, not as big as her!
  24. Urr... I signed up but I cannot find the special forum for whatever reason. Not too sure where to look though so this is probably on me.
