  1. Thanks guys! I must admit, I tend to prefer limited and/or muted palettes and, where possible, follow the box art, so the lack of contrast is somewhat intentional. That being said, with hindsight the blue could perhaps have been more striking. It's something I might rectify in the future with a blue glaze, as the miniatures aren't varnished at present. In regards to the other Outcasts I'm looking to add, I think they all offer similarly limited colour schemes (Sue, for instance, is just various shades of grey and gunmetal), so hopefully the muted theme will tie everyone together. Lazarus is already sitting on my 'to do' shelf so hopefully, in a fortnight or so, I might have some further progress to show!
  2. Good to know! Thanks for the assistance and patient explanations, they're much appreciated, not to mention demonstrating the use of the mask icons on the forum; that will doubtless come in handy for future questions!
  3. Ha! So we were totally wrong then - Whilst I feel incredibly foolish now, I am glad I asked! We hadn't even considered that option, but reading it, it just seems to be bloody obvious... I think I follow the second part, although it begs the questions, what happens with resistance then - I assume, that logically, the person resisting, simply needs to beat the casting player's score with WP+Flip in any suit, as there is no way in the mechanics (modifiers excepted) they could make the requirement? [Edit] Just re-read the 'Opposed Duels' section of the core rulebook, and the wording seems to confirm the above - Resisting player just needs to beat the numerical score.
  4. Hello, fellow hobbyists! Only my second post on the forums (so be gentle ) - I'm not new to tabletop gaming, but definitely new to Malifaux and really loving the quality, realistic proportions and exquisite detail of the miniatures, although they are by-far-and-away some of the fiddliest builds I have ever encountered, and I am afraid I made a couple of minor mistakes along the way (don't look too closely at the Specialist's tubing for instance!), but all-in-all I am really pleased with how these turned out, and I love how they look on the tabletop... My plans are to slowly expand with Lazarus, Sue and a couple of Convict Gunslingers - I'm also obligated to paint my wife's Ten Thunders, although if I'm honest the initial set didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped (first time working with yellow) and will be reserved for another post, at another time (possibly after they've had a Dettol do-over!). In the meantime, whilst they're not up to the (frankly, inspirational) standard of many of the forum's existing luminaries, I hope you enjoy!
  5. I'm going to preface this post by apologising for asking what might seem like an incredibly stupid question - Although I have been wargaming for around 26 years, I am incredibly new to Malifaux and the use of playing cards and suits, whilst a definite breath of fresh air, is a whole new ball game for me, so... I'm curious about the use of suits in TN - The example that came up in my first game was in the casting of 'Lure' by my wife's Oirans. The target number is given as '12 Crows/Masks', but the initial CA value is '8 Masks', so my question is, does this mean that (A) to be successful the player has to flip either a four-or-higher in Masks or a 12-or-higher in Crows, OR (B) the player simply needs to flip a 4-or-higher in either Masks or Crows (as an 8 and Masks is at least provided by the CA). We played it as option (A) as this seems the most logical/obvious answer, otherwise, it appears to be far too easy to cast 'Lure' if you just need a 4-or-higher in either Masks or Crows, but we wanted to double-check we had understood the interaction of suits correctly. As I say, potentially stupid question, but any patient assistance greatly welcomed!
