  1. Thanks for the reply. I do like the old sculpt and also the new sculpt ...so I guess I will just put Chiaki new sculpt on the bottom of my wishlist.
  2. I have used the Special Order to purchase completely new Units so that I don't have to get duplicate models from past purchases. Thanks Wyrd for that option! I want to get the new model sculpt of Chiaki that is currently packaged with Sun Quiang and 2 Komainu. I already have those three models from Malifaux 2E and the old sculpt of Chiaki. Will customers have the option to special order new 3E sculpts of units that had an older sculpt in 2E? I noticed that the Special Order so far seems to be only for new units from 3E. On the Special Order page: "Special Orders can be made for any completely new Malifaux models (those that weren’t around in M2E) and shipped through us or a local distributor directly to your friendly local game store so that players can pick up any new models without the hassle of duplicates." The Chiaki model in the Descendants and Guardians is a completely new Malifaux model of an old unit from M2E. I guess does the "completely new Malifaux models" only referred to completely new Malifaux units?
  3. After many years, I finally see Santana Ortega available for purchase! It was one of the models I really liked before I had any idea what Malifaux was. Thanks!
  4. My very first impression is Chief Quimby from Inspector Gadget
  5. When I have time I will try to post pictures of miniatures I got. Overall, I am very happy with the products and glad that I backed this project. I had a Tyrant's pledge plus some additional miniatures and decks. Some things were missing...a stat card, an arm for one of the infantry men, and the Field Intelligence Corps (but I think it was mentioned in an update that it will be sent as a separate package). The Good: - The standard size models met and sometimes surpassed my expectations on quality. I am especially impressed with most of the Gibbering Horde figures. Some bent weapons/tentacle things but should be fixable with the hot water/cold water method. -The bulkier models are hefty, it does not look like the large models are hollow in the inside. - I expected the miniatures to be pre-glued onto the bases. But came not glued. For me this is good for decorating the base. - Accessories, the KS exclusive deck is very nice. I like it a lot better than the plastic decks for each allegiance (which pales in presentation to the exclusive deck, imo). The keychain measuring tape is very convenient. The Bad: - I feel the Titans varies greatly in size. I am not sure if this was the original intent. Horomatangi looks fairly small compared to King's Hand and Alpha Crawler. The Dreadnought appears to be smaller scale than the rest of the range. The three soldiers riding the Titan, are roughly 75-80% the size of Abyssinia regular foot infantry models. Again not sure if that was the original size or did they had to scale down the model to fit base or what else. I was very interested in Abyssinia, but was disappointed in the Titan and wonder how the other two titans in that allegiance will turn out. - Pre-assembly - For my gorysche I was able to easily snap off one of its head (at the gluing point). Several of the smaller infantry sized models had their arms not attached. I'm not sure if it was some poor assembly or will it be an issue in the long run of parts coming off from models. Again, overall I am very happy with the products. I only wished Three Kingdoms and Kimon was part of the first wave, as now I have to wait on the allegiances that I am most interested in! Thanks Wyrd for making it and hopefully it will be a very successful product line.
  6. "Thematic" crew...I wonder if this allows some of the previous dual factions masters to retain the use of minions from their past 2nd edition faction.
  7. Shipping cost have been uploaded for me (US region). It was ~$28.00 shipping cost for an order that have almost one of every miniature unit (minus Artillery and Motorcycle unit). One of everything seems to be a nice way to add additional miniatures for a Through the Breach RPG campaign...
  8. There is plan for a 2-player starter set and 2 allegiances (Three Kingdoms and Kimon). I would like to know when these will be released compared to the four allegiances that were in the kickstarter during retail. It would allow me to decide on how much money I can spend in the near future. Three Kingdoms and Kimon allegiances sound like the allegiances I would prefer to collect before the other allegiances.
  9. Just received mine. Some questions for those that have assembled it. I got 19 pieces total, are there some digital instructions available? I don't see any digital instructions online, and while some of it is pretty easy to figure out, it would be nice to have a reference to help with assembly. Does plastic cement/glue work with this material or is superglue the recommended adhesive to use?

    New Image

My bad, you are right. For some reason I thought Thrace and Binh were commanders in their syndicates

    New Image

My guess based on that image is that the each side will feature 1 commander, 1 nine-person unit, and 1 champion for a total of 22 miniatures and a retail price of ~$100. I was thinking that the 2-player stater set will have the non-limited sculpt of Binh and Thrace as their commanders.
  12. Don't see Santana Ortega on the list. I wonder if that figure is completely out of stock...hoping it shows up the next online special. Also hope that vintage models will be available in future sales. A good chunk of my miniature budget have been invested into The Other Side.
  13. What you wrote sounds about right for the tyrant pledge
  14. I did not received a message from Wyrd about shipping of the promotion item, but I did received a USPS tracking notification from Georgia. I assume it is for this as I am not expecting anything else from that area. I received the notification yesterday.
  15. My back cover of the Creative Taxidermy book was ripped when I purchased this product such that some of the Stuffed Piglet information is missing. Since I originally purchased this product for Malifaux, I did not thought much about it. I just recently got interested in the TTB role playing game and was hoping others that have the book can fill in the missing information: Stuffed Pig [Page Teared] Peon (4), Undead, Be[Page Teared, Missing Keywords information] [Page Teared, Missing Speed Stat] Edit: Got the information.
  16. It wouild be neat if you can have 2 dual commanders to get three allegiances together..Earth Side vs Malifaux Side...most likely harder to balance though
  17. I would recommend going with just one allegiance if you have others in your area getting the game from the start, Otherwise, going for two allegiances, you can play the game with family or introduced it to friends.
  18. I have not caught up on all the fluff, but there was a distinction made on how one oni can manifest a lot easier in the Malifaux side and not on Earth side. The "world of Oni" is an in-between world from the "mortal realm" of Earth and Malifaux? It will be interesting to see how Wyrd incorporate them into the fluff. IIRC In some Chinese myths, yokai (classified as Oni in the Malifaux game) can be humans in their previous lives that did not reincarnate back into another human being/normal animal. This could be due to a tragic death or resentment during their previous lives.
  19. I saw this album link to TGN - https://www.facebook.com/pg/tabletopgamingnews/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10154986276537945 From a thread in Malifaux's Forum Section Going through the images, you can see some new models for The Other Side (based on the shape of the base ^_^). According to some at GenCon it seems the next two allegiances will be Three Kingdoms and Kimon (Oni). So I guess by the time the Kickstarter is fulfilled and the following Wave 2 book, there will be 8 allegiances: Earth Side: King's Empire, Abyssinia, Guild (Syndicate), and Three Kingdoms Malifaux Side: Cult of the Burning Man. Gibbering Horde, Court of Two (Syndicate), and Kimon. Really looking forward to the more Asian factions. Hopefully The Other Side is successful enough to get a Wave 3 for the North/South Americas' Factions for a World War-ish event
  20. Binh can be the Vietnamese spelling of Chinese characters. Three Chinese characters of the same pronunciation (actual character is built off of each other) that is translated to Binh in Vietnamese - Peace -> Apple -> Floating Plants...I don't think Binh Nguyen refers to any of them though.
  21. Are there other table top war game miniatures made of PVC that is reflective of the price you consider to be appropriate? I look at the pricing of The Other Side and they don't seem to be far off. On average per miniature, The Other Side "plastic" miniatures are cheaper in price than the "plastic" Malifaux models. In the quote you were making a comparison of PVC being inferior to Resin. For models to be used as gaming pieces, I value more durability over greater level of crisp details. In that regard, resin is the inferior material. In a The Other Side update : "PVC is a type of plastic, but it doesn't come only one way. PVC is actually a very large spectrum of plastic, and the quality of PVC depends greatly on where you are on that spectrum. Many of you probably have experience with some of the cheap PVC, and we're sure some of you have been very happy with some PVC in the past." That is of course, Wyrd's own spiel
  22. Austrailians do get some obnoxious pricing for GW products (the GW link is for Australia). Not the same price in other regions and I'm not sure how Wyrd products are priced for their Australian consumers. I think all tabletop war games are generally expensive :D. You will pay for it if you like the game and aesthetics. In my opinion, tabletop war games is not something I recommend people to just casually try out the hobby since there is a huge investment of money and time. The Other Side attempts to offset some of the time investment through pre-assembled miniatures (there is an audience that prefers that) and having each allegiance starter box ready to play in 1 commander games. A potential customer sees a demo from retailer or people playing the game at their local store, they can immediately buy an allegiance box and they are ready to play on the same day with it (instead of spending hours to assemble them and waiting for the next week to play at LGS). It seems most of the playtesting have been catered to 1 or 2 commander games for both sides. You don't need to purchase anything more after that unless you wish to expand to 2 commander games or increase options to what you can switch in and out for a game (in that sense it is more similar to Malifaux and other skirmish size games, expensive if you want more options but reasonable if you stick to just the same models). I am happy with the Update asI was already convinced in getting the game and it gives me more stuff if more SGs are reached!
  23. I am not sure how much of Wyrd's characters are based on real people; however, the image of the "ghost" Binh reminds me of a fox. In Chinese mythology there are stories about nine-tailed fox demons or spirits. The fox spirit or demon seems to be common in east Asian cultures as I also see stories about them in Japan and Korea. I am not sure if the fox spirit/demon is in Vietnamese culture, but I do know Chinese culture had a strong presence in Vietnam.
  24. I like that Wyrd is planning to sell it as pre-assembled and unassembled products. If I just want one unit only, preassemble is ready to go. When I want to have more than one copy of that unit, purchasing the unassemble version gives more leeway for conversion to make each unit slightly different. I wonder how "modular" these models are. Some of them look very dynamic in pose.
  25. @Phinnfrom KS update: Syndicates work a bit like mercenaries in the game, their forces able to be hired out to certain Allegiances. Thrace works for the Guild, which means she is able to be hired by any Earthside Allegiances (Abyssinia and King's Empire). Binh Nguyen works for the Court of Two, which allows him to be hired by any Malifaux Allegiances (Cult of the Burning Man and Gibbering Hordes).
