  1. Nice stuff! Any chance of you sharing how you do the water effects on those gremlin bases?
  2. Does anyone know of any good US online suppliers of Coat D'Arms paints? I can't afford shipping from the UK.
  3. Thanks Lamby. I just checked out scale 75 paints and they are pretty out of reach for me. I will most likely end up trying reaper because I can order them directly from reaper for roughly the same cost (minus shipping) as the Hobby Lobby Vallejo.
  4. I'm not the OP but I wanted to thank him and you guys as well. I was coming here to make a similar post but found this one. I too am a new painter and soon to be noob at Malifaux. I too needed painting advise. I have only two FLGS in my town and they both only stock Citadel paints. And for whatever reason both stores only have a small variety of colors. The rack in both stores is mostly empty. I'm sure that Citadel paints are awesome but it is the most expensive of all the paints mentioned. As a gamer on a very tight budget I just can't see using Citadel. I also have access to Hobby Lobby who stock Vallejo Model color, which is cheaper, but again, very limited on variety of colors. Sooo...I was just looking for advice, like the OP, about what paints you guys use. If any of you know of any good online retailers for paint with cheap shipping for small orders I would appreciate that info also. Out of curiosity, what paints do you use @Lamby and @Guildenstern?
  5. You do understand correctly. And I plan on doing exactly what you suggest. I just have to find a time that both of my kids can sit down with me and look through all the factions and box sets. It is a lot to look through. I'm hoping for this weekend but we will see. I still have a little time.
  6. That set looks really good. I have started collecting some of the free paper stuff that I can find and will most likely buy some as well. I need to find an inexpensive mat as well. Maybe some printed tiles on foamcore? Thanks for the advice and the links!
  7. Thanks. I did some searching for tutorials and have not found any yet. But I'll keep looking.
  8. Thank you. I will check these out. I have seen some of the Fat Dragon stuff and it does seem like a fairly inexpensive way to get some terrain.
  9. Man don’t I know it. As a gamer on a very tight budget, I KNOW that Malifaux is not a good choice for me. But there is something about Malifaux that really appeals to me. I haven’t even bought my first box yet and I already want them all. My wallet and I will have to come to some sort of understanding.
  10. Thank you @solkan. I'll check those out too.
  11. Wow thank you! I just looked up Breachside Broadcast and it sounds awesome. I think that it alone will keep me busy for a while. I will then check out the Chronicles, whatever they are . I completely understand why they charge for this stuff though. They clearly put out a good product and, as far as I can tell, have backed it up with a pretty awesome story. Wyrd seems to really care about Malifaux and obviously want their customers to love it too. They seem to be a really cool company. I can't wait until I can actually get started with the game.
  12. Ok this is probably a stupid question but is there any way to get all of the Malifaux lore without buying all of the rules manuals? I don’t need all of the manuals and can’t afford them all. I love all of the lore that I have read so far on the Malifaux site but would love to read all of it.
  13. Hah! The name does sort of fit doesn't it? To answer your question, not completely. I'm pretty sure that I like Neverborn best, followed by Gremlins but I have been thinking that I will most likely go with the starter set to begin with. It just make the most sense I think. I have had a little financial set back so I still have a little time to deside for sure. Also I will mostly be playing with my 13 y/o and maybe by 14 y/o. I have started thinking that maybe by boy should go with a faction that is easy to play and I could go with something a little harder just to even things out between us. Any ideas for two factions to pit against each other like that? I don't think he will go for Guild though.
  14. Very helpful! Thank you very much for that detailed explanation.
  15. I am confused about something. I was looking through the PullMyFinger guide on gathering supplies for Malifaux. It has a list of 1-6 things that you will need. Number 5 says What is the Arsenal Deck for? Does the crew boxes not come with all the unit cards that you need? Why would I have to flip through a book or buy one of these Faction Arsenal Decks
