  1. Oh, ok. Didnt think to DL that, just grabbed the FAQ and Errata. Thanks for the reply.
  2. Ok, so I have obviously missed something in this FAQ/Errata because I'm not seeing this change about summoned models not being able to interact with strategy markers. Can someone please tell me were this change is?
  3. Torakage are one of my favorite models to play, with any master. They always do well, whether its running schemes or just causing my opponent to spend more AP then they would want to remove them from the board. Oiran are not as effective though, but their +1 to WP is nice at times. I still don't understand why everyone says these models are worthless. As for the original post, i don't think the models listed are worthless because of wave 3/4. Izamu isn't useless because of Yasunori. They both fill a similar role, but if i weren't taking any other Oni, Izamu might be a better choice then Yasunori. There is no model in this game i have played that feels like i was at a disadvantage if i took it over a different model. It really comes down to just playing what models you like the look of and play style (not to mention wave 4 models are the newest, and it feels like the newer models always gets move love from the player base then the older models in these types of games, even if the models are just as good.)
  4. I have tried both models, and have had varying degrees of success with both. I usually will take a couple of Tengu if i want a couple of cheap activation when I'm not running McCabe, and i take the T-Bros if i know I'm going to need to protect my scheme markers. Honestly though, i normally don't take either model.
  5. Had one game with her so far, it was a terrible game. Combo of bad flips with wrong models for the Strat. I hired 2 Yokai because i wanted to see if hiring them was worth it, and honestly their Flicker +5 was not much of an issue. My opponent had no way of removing conditions so i didn't have to worry about that. I think at 5SS they can be a solid piece to take out scheme runners, or even run schemes since at the end of the turn they can be placed 3" from the lowering of Flicker (but they have nothing to give someone who loves TT Bros any reason not to take a Bro over a Yokai). My feeling for them is they are an ok 5SS model, nothing amazing, but definitely not worthless when hired. As for Asami herself, managing her hand is really important. I was able to summon a Spidey twice (one per turn) but that put me in a bad spot when i needed to make attacks since i didn't have the high cards to cheat my horrid flips. My first game with her was definitely not a good experience, duo to my bad crew and bad flips, i will be trying to use her as much as i can for a while though to try out all types of crew builds.
  6. While Taelor will be an obstacle for Asami's summoning, you could also use her summoning to lure Taelor out of position or even use her ability to set a trap for your opponent. I have no idea how effective these could be, i myself have never faced her, but i think a clever player could use Taelor's ability against her.
  7. I don't think high river monks are trash. With their ability to make 3 ML attacks on a charge they are pretty good a dishing out some damage with their built in burning trigger. Are they the best offensive minion? No...but they aren't trash; I have had them take out other similar priced models with no problem. Maybe its just my meta.
  8. Cool, do we know when these will be released?
  9. I don't think a combat oriented scheme pool plays that far from Shen's strength. Yes his biggest strength works great for marker oriented schemes, but being able to push hitters into charge range and give fast can be very useful for combat schemes. Not to mention Fermented River Style is great!
  10. Thanks for the replies. I played some 40k in 4th Ed, but most of my miniature gaming was with Warmachine, and have gotten use to using the cards. I hated proxying models in Warmachine and needing to flip back and forth between pages when i needed to look up model rules.
  11. Sorry if this is common knowledge for most... I started up with Malifuax last year and since then have built up a decent size collection of 10 Thunder. Recently i have been interested in getting Yan Lo, and found a box at a local gaming store but it has the old style box (from what i can figure it looks like the grey box from 1.5E). I just want to know if i get this box will i have to buy a Second Wave deck in order to have get the 2E cards for the crew? Thanks for any info.
  12. Those are sweet! I really love the Tortoise, but your page says they come pre-assembled...and looking at the sweet model it seems like it could be a massive pain to paint.
  13. I do not understand why everyone says Torakage are are not that good...maybe its my meta, or maybe its that im not interested in tournaments but i find Torakage to just as good as any other mid point minion in 10T. As for being worth it with the 1SS merc tax, i agree with SpiralngCadavr. Though, if you REALLY want to bring some ninjas into your non-10T list i guess you could try them, though i don't think i would ever bring more then 1 at 7SS.
  14. I was kind of like you when i started. I looked at every faction and tried to find the masters that fit the way i liked to play, while every faction had at least one Master i liked, the aesthetic never really thrilled me. I chose 10T because of the Samurai, so bought them and the Misaki box and was a little board. Misaki didn't really do anything for her crew other then kill stuff good. Once i started playing McCabe and Shenlong i found 10T was the faction for me. Both those masters have so many different combos it's crazy! As for your complaint of tainted aesthetics, well i think the problem you might be running into is that the 10T have a strong Asian look to them, which is vastly different from the rest of the game, that when you put models from other factions down with 10T there is a BIG contrast. Personally i love the mixture of aesthetics. My favorite is running McCabe with Wastrels and ninjas!
  15. I'm not sure what you mean by this. Maybe it's because im not into the tournament scene, but when ever i take a Torakage they always are able to do what i need done (unless of course i get crappy flips, but honestly that is the down fall of any model). They are a pretty straight forward model, they can run schemes and they can easily take out enemy minions with there to attack and damage flips. I think their strength lies in the fact that they are versatile. I would never run a 10T bro into combat, i have never been able to do more then weak damage with them, but i never feel worried about throwing a Torakage into melee with a decent hand.
