Where: 4th planet Games, 11 Bank St, Wrexham. When: 25th March Time: TBC Three Rounds, 50ss, Fabulous prizes, Questionable company, what more could you ask for! Come down and play some Malifaux! Gaining Grounds 2017, Schemes and strategies to be announced
  4. Due to scheduling conflicts in store, i'm not able to host another tournament this month, but never fear this time shall not be wasted and we are doing a Shifting Loyalties League for the Whole month of November! We shall be starting our first League day on the 1st of November! The Starting Arsenal Size will be 35 Soul stones. If you're unsure about the Shifting loyalties format please come in on the day and see me League games can be undertaken at any time between two league players, but only up to a maximum of two league games a week can be played (so try not to make them against the same player!) We have a prize pack en route so players will get some goodies at the end. The event is free just entrance to the store is needed! We will have league days every Wednesday through the month of November and i will be around most week days to give anyone a game should they need it (i will only count two games per week like everyone else) Have a good one and hope to see you there!
  5. I'm planning a few alternative models from the multipart kits, but I need to take some time to think about who I want to make
  6. Hello everyone, I've recently acquired a dayglow Kirai set, I'm just wondering if anyone else has painted up some day glow minis? I'm thinking on inking a fair few of them, specifically the spirits. and then part painting the "human" models like Kirai and Lost lover. but leaving parts unpainted and just inked. So a few specific questions; 1) Do you have to undercoat the day glows before painting. 2) if you do have to undercoat I'm assuming either liquid mask or hand undercoating. 3) any pictures of what anyones done?
  7. Huge thank you to everyone who came down today, put up with my unpreparedness and a slightly rushed ending, I learnt alot and I hope to get to some local tournaments and hope we can build a nice scene here in the north Wales borders. Again massive thanks and congratulations to all who participated. Especial congratulations to @PositronMike for 1St place @Reservoir Dog for 2nd and best painted @Neverborndave for 3Rd
  8. Yes i will do that..sorry still learning, @PositronMike if you could bring some terrain i would appreciate it, i'm still building our local stock and we have enough for 3 tables for sure (with another one/two made of other wargame scenery) I'll edit the original post with the days deployments
  9. Yeah (this is my first tournament so please make suggestions where you think something might be good to change) Be glad to have you, please let me know so i can make sure we will have enough space a few days notice will be fine (just might have to frantically build more terrain lol
  10. Rules pack printed, trophies ordered we're ready to rock and roll
  11. @Reservoir Dog that's you in the paid list, yeah hopefully some more, I know some local guys are in, they might just pay on the day though. Still plenty of time So Roll Up! Roll Up! come to 4th planet games and play some Malifaux!
  12. Here is the rules pack for those who are interested, sadly I can't upload the nice pdf I created so will copy and paste from the rulespack here: The Tournament Format The event will follow the Gaining Grounds 2016, with the following exceptions; Proxy, Conversion, and Painting Rules Proxies are allowed as long as they are appropriate representations of the model they stand for. Wyrd models may only be used to represent what they are, unless they are converted. Please check in advance with the organizer for suitability. Conversions are an excellent way to show off your modeling skills and as such we will accept the use of conversions, players using conversions should try to avoid a too heavily converted crew (by which we mean it will be difficult for your opponent to keep track of what is what). Models must be assembled and attached to the appropriate size base. The minimum painting requirement is undercoat. However, there will be a prize for the best-painted Single figure. Tournament Rules Number of Rounds and Schedule 10:00 Venue open & registration 10:30 Round 1 Strategy: Turf War Schemes: Convict labour, Exhaust their forces, Leave your mark, Neutralize the leader & Undercover entourage Deployment: Standard 12:30 Lunch and painting judging 13:30 Round 2 Strategy: Extraction Schemes: Convict labour, Occupy their turf, Show of force, Catch and release & Leave your mark. Deployment: Flank 15:30 Round 3 Strategy: Head Hunter Schemes: Convict labour, Exhaust their forces, Search the ruins, Hunting party & Detonate the charges. Deployment: Corner 17:30 Prizes, congratulations, speeches, tears, joy and closing time Crew Construction Single Faction Prior to the start of the Tournament, each player will sign up with a specific Faction. At the start of each round, the players will hire their Crew for the Encounter up to 50SS including Upgrades. Terrain Setup Terrain will be placed in advance and must not be moved by the players. Entry To enter send £10 by PayPal to mad_dan12@hotmail.com as a gift (include your forum name and proposed Faction) or pay me in cash beforehand. This will cover your play fee at 4th Planet Games (So no additional fees) and will enter you into the prize draw A list of entrants (and Factions where known) will be maintained on the Wyrd forum post. Prizes will be awarded based on the number of entries. However, we aim to have the following: 1st, 2nd & 3rd place (Trophies, certificates and Guilders) Last place (wooden spoon and guilder) Best painted miniature (Painted by you and from your chosen faction) (A plaque, bragging rights and a guilder) Plus a prize draw raffle (This will be a random assortment of gaming and malifaux related goodies, such as mystery boxes, spare guild scrip, store vouchers and resin bases to name but a few)
  13. Prize pack has arrived, if there is 8 players everyone will be getting a guilder to go towards the nice new guilder program, (if there is more than eight the winner will get a winners guilder and the rest will go into the raffle so still good chance to win one) Rules pack is coming just some final tweaks and re reading
  14. Hi as a fellow Nicodem player I often find myself in the same position, it probably comes from my playing other wargames where the go to strategy is to murder everything on the table. I've never used killjoy but I have faced him and he is horrible so that's a good choice, also he deals best on his own otherwise he will try to attack your own guys (I think), however he is really expensive (even in a outcast crew), so you might be better off with a few more foot soldiers or taking some of the resser specific beatsticks (although that's probably just a matter of six of one half a dozen of the other) I would probably shove "my favourite shovel" with Mortimer too, it means he can move one and still generate up to two tokens a turn, it makes him quite pricy and you can't heal him but I find its usually worth it, as one way or another Nicodem want's lots of corpse tokens around, and more mindless zombies the better to provide mobile corpse tokens and meatshield to protect him and morti. With that in mind I often find the Vulture is not that useful, it does give the immune to slow aura which is pretty nice, but if you have all your corpse tokens following you around then its other ability to move tokens up field is pretty redundant. I've started taking grave yard spirit as +2 armour is too good to pass up (Especially I find on Izamu armour +4!!) Overall its quite a good list, belles are so good its not even funny. and remember once your mob is in combat target them with nicodems damage spell, hope for a blast and heal all your undead guys in range and hurt all the living. its a great tactic I've used a few times, corpse engine in the middle (just keep ressing things to keep the enemy bunched up) and then keep throwing in healing/damage spells. I agree with you about pretty much everything you've said about malifaux, I really enjoy it (and am a henchman now) and I love painting and modelling so its got me there, now i'm on to making terrain, one board complete (nearly so another one to go) Good luck
