  1. An understanding of female anatomy is something that a lot of art styles lack. *cough cough Hawkeye Initiative cough* The appeal in this is similar to the appeal of Silent Hill creature design for me. It's not intended to be realistic, it's a hyperbolic expression of a core concept (in this case, a wet nurse - it doesn't have to serve any purpose but to feed, and it is exceptionally well equipped to do just that). I am sure the expense and limited availability of players and pieces would make starting now an impossible task, I was just expressing my appreciation for creative monster design and the taste of lore that was delivered with it. Art style and lore are my primary motivations for playing most games though.
  2. Wyrd makes base inserts if you want them to look awesome with minimal effort. I chose to use a very simple stone/brick street effect on my army. If you have a model train/hobby shop in your area, look for a sheet of stone wall...it's like foam with a sticker back to it. Add a little superglue for added security to the plastic base, and you've got an easy-as-pie cobblestone/brick street base insert.
  3. Wow. I know absolutely nothing about this game or its world, but I want to play it.
  4. Seamus never disappoints me. I tend to run him with Bete Noire, Copy Cat Killer, a couple Crooked Men, and waves and waves of Rotten Belles (I've also got Dead Doxies waiting to be M2E ready). There is no problem that can't be solved with a Belle rush, and if there is, Bete should be able to take care of it...just make sure you have the ability to re-bury her if things get dicy!
  5. If you paint them green, will you look at them and think "I wish those were purple now"? Your minis are about what makes you happy, not about a pre-assigned color scheme. My army doesn't even have a unifying color.
  6. Ooh, I never would have thought to fill the models with metal! I like the satisfying weight of pewter minis too. Your idea: I am stealing it. Just in case that wasn't clear.
  7. Maybe Collodi will finally be a real boy. No Blue Fairy required!
  8. Welcome to the fold! Who is your master/mistress of choice? Not that I'm in your area, unfortunately, just curious!
  9. Check your local train enthusiast's shop. I have seen miniature wooden crates, trunks, and the like at ours, plenty of which would work as a Steam Trunk proxy.
  10. I wouldn't normally plug a kickstarter, but, well, this one has already reached its funding goal, and I figure the folks around here would appreciate the product being offered. It's a stamp for molding your own basing terrain. They are a bit on the pricy side to back (particularly since this is based in the UK) but a very cool concept! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2023606288/bake-your-own-basius-base-pads-for-wargames-and-mi?ref=live
  11. These are beautiful! I love your basing! I have tons of old buttons and bobbins laying around, and now I know just what to do with them!
  12. I'm very new to the world of miniatures, but I have to say I prefer painting the metal figures to the plastic ones. Metal figures have a satisfying weight to them, and the density of pewter feels sturdier in my hands. I also feel that they take to paint better than plastic figures (although I use a brush, not an airbrush). That having been said, I do see the merits of plastic figures. The detail, customization potential, and lower cost are all wonderful traits. Looking at the new Malifaux figures, I am wowed by the attention to detail that the new plastic figures show (currently painting the Dark Debts crew). I'll still take a pewter figure over a plastic one any day of the week, but I can appreciate the beauty of a well-done plastic figure.
  13. It can be played with 2 players. One plays the monsters/ GMs, and the other plays a team of heroes. It actually goes much quicker that way than with multiple players. It is so worth getting (especially if you can snag it on sale online), and honestly, if you play in public and have fun with it, you might draw the attention of more players.
