  1. Point taken Sorry the blood gets up. Another interesting consideration from my POV is the killing power of the master. From what I've seen from the more recent bigger US tourneys, the winner was typically an excellent player and had a crew that would slaughter everything on the board. I suspect that trickiness is fun and flexible, but at the end of the day, you have lots of flexibility if the opposing crew is dead. I didn't notice much of that in many of the rankings within this thread. I'm curious about the tier perception vs. the data. I'd currently hypothesize that excellent players are drawn to complicated masters and they will excel at them. However, if players with equal skill levels faced off, the one who had the master and crew with the most killing power would likely win. I suspect that we don't see that as a blatant trend because many of those excellent players find the "killy" masters too straightforward and don't enjoy playing them. At least that's my current hypothesis. Killing power still trumps flexibility.
  2. Maybe, but you are still paying 2 SS for an attack option that is difficult to pull off. It's still against their defence, so you still need that high ram to meet the TN AND to score the hit. I'm not sure the upgrade is worth it. Even if it is a zero action.
  3. It's so sad that Lucius gets such a low rating from basically everyone. His flavor is just so great. I'm a relatively new player and have been having fun with McCabe. Having gotten used to relying on minions to pull a bit more weight, I wanted to try Lucius out. I found that his problems for me were two-fold. He is so intensely resource dependent that you can't get even 1/2 of the stuff done that you want. Discarding cards for putting people at flip attacks, needing "high" moderate cards for horror duals, needing for hidden sniper, needing to burn a stone for his sword cane trigger (right? I don't have the card in front of me), needing a AND a to pass off the damage from an attack to a nearby minion (forgot upgrade name) means burning a SS to allow a minion to take the effects of an attack (the damage is still being taken and now a SS is gone), etc... Meanwhile, McCabe is handing out flips to Ml and WP with Promises. His "buffing" via tossing around upgrades occurs with his zero action so the resources used are minimal. You may have to cheat in a if you want to toss 2 things or a low card if you fail the flip, but that's basically it. He doesn't do much on his own. He has his sword-cane is OK and the brutal emissary can help, but honestly, if his minions aren't around, there isn't much he can do. McCabe himself is both a tank and a beater. I know that they fill slightly different slots, but since their crew composition is often minion focused it's hard not to directly compare them. Lucius really needs access to far more resources or the "tricks" that he is trying to pull off need to have decreased TNs/less suits. It would be great if he had some way to heal bring back minion models to provide some level of durability. As it stands, it feels like Lucius is "Hamstrung".
  4. This is very exciting. Just a few questions: 1) Are we also following all of the painting rules from GG? 2) Are the wave 3 models able to be used? 3) Any specific proxy rules, or just GG? Thank you!
  5. Thank you for the clarification. I'm sorry for the brevity of the question, I was mid-game and was trying to keep the question short, but clear. The situation was that a TTBrother was hiding in another room, right behind an impassible stone wall. A watcher had perfect LoS to it. My crew was being run by Ryle. So, I surmised that if my Watcher would use "Relay Information", Ryle would be able to charge and "Punch through the wall" to hit the TTB, who was within 1" of the narrow wall. Ryle definitely had the charge range and engagement range. The question was LoS. I'm used to non-logical situations where Sonnia and Sam can blast things through walls, assuming that they are on fire. I've just never had a chance to apply the same mechanic to a attack before. We both ultimately agreed that he probably could do it. I was looking for some confirmation. Thanks again.
  6. If my leader is on one side of a wall, and my opponent is on the other, could I use my watcher with his "View from up high" to give my leader LOS to punch through the wall to hit the opponent?
  7. OK, that makes more sense. I was putting too much emphasis on "the desired result". I suppose the other implication is that you can't cheat, so that might end up messing with your plans too. Thank you again.
  8. are straight forward. Copy/pasting from the rulebook: Note the second sentence. You get multiple chances of flipping the suit you wanted, and you get to choose between the suits flipped. The important part for on the reward flip is going to be to negate and to taunt you by showing you the suits you could have gotten. Edit: And the Cheat Fate rules (which are in play because you're allowed to cheat the flip) include the very important statement that you're not allowed to cheat fate if you have a net negative fate modifier. Of course, either way, the more cards flipped the greater chance that a red or black joker comes out. So, yeah, you're flipping cards and you don't have a reason to care what the numeric value of those cards are, but the fate modifier mechanic doesn't mind. Thank you for your reply. I thought that this might be the case, but I must admit, it sounds a bit silly. As quoted, it comes down to desire. With a positive flip, that's easy to solve. For the negative flip, it's not so clear. I guess the only way for this to work is to have someone declare their desired suits prior to the flip? You would have to rank order what you want for all 4 suits (assuming you don't have one already) prior to the flip. Otherwise, it would become, "Ummm, yeah, I didn't want masks, and since I flipped a mask and a crow, I must take the mask. - Subtle success kid fist pump." It just feels a bit less clean than a numerical flip.
  9. I've searched, but couldn't find an answer to this. I'm sorry if it's been addressed and I missed it. In the bounty descriptions, they mention or flips to the Reward Flip. However, the Reward Flip chart only has suits. How does that work? Thanks!
  10. It sounds like GenCon was lots of fun. As a person who was unable to make it: The webstore was very easy to use. I especially liked how the bonus model was automatically added into your cart and acknowledged. That minimized any odd anxiety about it being forgotten, or that I missed something. I would have liked to have seen more official Wyrd reporting, esp battle reports from the top tables. CF Joe was posting pics on Twitter (thanks!), but for some of those games, more detailed reports would be great to see.
  11. In a recent discussion about Mr. Graves and his trigger, Your Fight Is With Me, I realized that perhaps I was making the wrong assumption. The trigger text says, "After succeeding, a friendly Mr. Tannen within LoS gains the following Condition until the end of the Turn: Harmless: This model does not count as having Activated for the purposes of the Manipulative ability." I had always assumed it meant that it was important that Tannin activated first, blew his manipulative, then got it "reset" by Graves. However, during the discussion it was pointed out that the wording doesn't indicate that. All it says is that after declaring the trigger Tannin will be considered as if he didn't activate for the rest of the turn. It doesn't state that Harmless goes away if Tannin activates. Thus, if Graves goes first, and calls the trigger, Tannin will have manipulative for the rest of the turn, even if he activates later. I think that is correct as written, but wasn't sure it that was what was intended. I have started convincing myself that it was intended, otherwise, there would have been something about how to lose Harmless (ie. activating). Thoughts?
  12. Thank you for the reply. I see the value of this when a different model is holding the Useless Duplications upgrade because the timing would work out perfectly. My issue is that when the defender has both abilities (Useless Duplications and Manipulative) I was stuck on the fact that step 2 of General Timing states: "The Defending Model resolves its Abilities." That's all it says. The problem as I see it is that both are abilities of the defender. Thus, they are both resolved during the same step of the general timing. I think the key might be that in step 3/4 it states, "Any other models controlled by the First Player/Second Player resolves all of their Ability effects in any order the First Player/Second player chooses." I'm going to assume then that I can apply the "in any order the player chooses" part to steps 1 and 2 as well. Thus, I could allow manipulative to be tested against first, then if they succeed, toss out a card to force the negative flip.
