  1. After reading the fluff I am certain guild autopsies just exist to disappoint whoever is running them. Maybe Hans should lead a crew of all guild autopsies.
  2. I like the Viks with Misaki, personally. I would also take Von Schill. Nowhere on the table is safe and there is nothing you cannot reliably get out of your way. I play a very heavy crush game though. Strategies are sometimes an afterthought for me and it has hurt me from time to time. Usually, however, I end up crippling the other player early enough and can then score schemes/strategies as I see fit.
  3. I bought Hans.. Played him once and immediately fired him from my crew. He is still unemployed. The man needs to feed his kids. Hopefully we can find work for him.
  4. Rules? I cannot be excited yet. Rules are a complicated mesh which all have to work in harmony. I am excited to see models we lovingly refer to as B-Listers on the table. Sebastian, Miranda, Sybelle, and mostly the Judge. I can never reason the Judge into a list right now despite my love for the model and fluff behind the guy. I am also looking forward to the possibility of not having to make an anti Pandora list all the time in order to play in an event.
  5. This is still going on? It's a game made for nerds. Nerds like ladies in costumes. The costumes work out better if filled by someone who is aesthetically pleasing. Plus, they're plastic. Objectify them. They are, after all, objects. If Any of the aforementioned models were real people, would they sue Wyrd for forcing them to dress like that? Probably. I guess we'll just have to wait for that day.
  6. Trepidation should be expected. All I can really say is wait for the beta. Then cite things that don't fit. That's the purpose of beta testing anyway. I don't love a lot of the things I have heard. Still, I cannot gauge how they will work out due to the lack of a complete game to base them in. As Sway said above most of our impressions are based off 1.5 as is the context in which we view them. Once you have the full picture feel free to yell and complain. Break things and quit the game. At least it's honest then and not a tantrum based on the idea of change.
  7. It is a business. I wasn't disputing that. How exactly does losing players boost sales? Have new editions proven to boost sales? In any company you prepare for loss when you make changes. The growth has to justify said loss. I wasn't talking about that in any case. I was simply saying that complaints are justified. If people hated the game they wouldn't say anything. Well, some wouldn't. Some are just jerks.
  8. Complaining, even done non constructively, is necessary. What good is a game without a reasonable base of people to play it? I always get mad when a game conforms to people who do not fully grasp it to make it more acceptable to the masses. Premeasureming is a solid example of this. Because some people have a slight edge in spacial awareness the playing field must be leveled? That being said, if the new rules hold an important mechanic that necessitates premeasuring then I am all for it. If something you enjoy doing, such as playing Malifaux, changes and you see no reason for it you will be disenchanted with the game. If you enjoyed it and now no longer want to play, then the game has gone in the wrong direction. I personally reserve judgement for a final product and do not bother with the wailing and gnashing of teeth until I can see how all the changes I am uncomfortable with play in relation to each other. Sometimes little things I do not like are necessary in order to create a total package that I do like. Jumping on people for being unhappy with changes to something they like makes absolutely no sense.
  9. I have limited experience against Colette, but I have usually done pretty well against her. Here are all the thoughts I can really offer. They have seemed to work out okay for me in the past.: Don't focus her unless you can make her burn all her soulstones out quickly. Effects that don't kill her are usually the most useful. With Yan Lo I would just shoot for paralysis as often as possible. Keep Izamu away from her and her birds. They'll bury him every chance they get. Although this is terribly hard to do with all the movement the showgirl crew has. Your crew was also a little too superstar heavy. Colette will usually destroy small count superstar lists. I like more models against Colette so I can turn everything into a fight of attrition. Burying a 10 stone model is awesome. The same plan doesn't work on three four stone models. I hope that helps some. It is a tough fight for sure. Good luck.
  10. Don't count out Samael, despite the hate. He is a super rough decision for your opponent a lot of the time. He has to be dealt with or he is going to ruin their day at some point. I usually just rush him up to the middle of the board and wait for something to commit to killing him. He is a little pricey for a bait model but it is an irresistible bait. He is great for keeping big bad models back as no one will willingly walk into his range without some sort of preset defense that will ensure he doesn't fry them in one go.
  11. A case can be made for every "zombie" model in the game. Nicodem makes undead models shine. In most cases Belles, punks, and crooked men are more than enough to shred everything and keep your opponent off their strategy by paralysis and moving them around against their will. The drowned are a good tar pit. I don't really play resurrectionists, I am only citing the things I have figured out for myself and those that have worked well against me.
  12. Even with Izamu's cool trigger negation, it is almost impossible to completely mitigate crit strike from a guild crew. There just aren't that many rams in a deck. I have never had an issue with him. Call it simple, a lack of strategy, or whatever but I just make an effort to kill or divert him. He's pretty expensive and if he's not on a killing rampage then those points are wasted. Do I always kill him? Well, yes. Luck has made that happen more than any real plan, though. Will I always kill him? Probably not. He is a great model. Do I feel I am being cheated when someone puts him down in opposition to me? No. To quote the wonderful realm of 2000 cinema "Bring it on". Now I feel terrible for typing that.
  13. Didn't get a chance to do the official league, so I'm gonna do my best to make it up to my players. Feel free to come out and join us any week you wish. Any questions or comments, as my rules may be a bit vague, will be appreciated. When: Tues, Feb 19th – Tues, March 19th. Tuesday will be the official day dedicated to the league. Games will be played between 5:00-10:100 pm. Where:Gamer's Sanctuary G4290 Miller Rd Flint, MI 48507 www.thegamerssanctuary.com Entry Fee: $5 per week. Once an entry fee is paid the player will be provided with that week’s score sheet and achievement list. The score sheets are not to leave the store. Taking a score sheet home will invalidate it. Prizes: Prizes will be based on achievements and scaled to participation. If a player is not present for prize presentation, they will be notified and the prize will be held. Prize categories will be: · Most Achievement points · Most Tactical Achievement points · Most Thematic Achievement points Crew Selection: Fixed faction for the duration of the league. Crew selection will change week to week as follows: · Week 1: 20 Soulstone fixed crew selection for the week. · Week 2: 25 Soulstone fixed crew selection for the week. · Week 3: 25 Soulstone fixed faction selection for the week. · Week 4: 35 Soulstone fixed faction selection for the week. · Week 5: Any sized game will be legal but crews will remain fixed faction. Achievements: A player can gain any number of achievements from a single game by meeting the requirements indicated by the achievements list. Each achievement, unless specifically specified, can only be gained once. Each achievement has a relevant point value which is used in determining how much the achievement is worth toward total points for the week. Once an achievement is gained your opponent must sign off on the specific achievement as a witness. Some achievements may be gained outside of a game, such as painting achievements. Have any Gamer’s Sanctuary employee or myself (Adam Paciorek) sign off on these. Opponents: A player is free to choose his/her own opponents. Game limit: A player may play as many games as they like during the designated league day (Tuesday). Encounter/Strategy Selection: May be determined by the players before each game following the rules presented in the Malifaux rule book. Bounty Hunting: Each week the player with the highest tactical achievement score will be the target of a specific achievement. Defeating this player in a game will earn you achievement points based on the bounty. If a bounty goes unclaimed, its value will rise from week to week. At the end of the week if a bounty has been collected by any player, it will be removed.
