  1. I can imagine there are a lot of potential issues with producing tokens for Malifaux - just imagine the scope of that project - but I'm also totally on board with having some Wyrd produced tokens available. Even a generic set - Poison, Burning, Defensive, Scheme, Corpse, Scrap Markers, etc - would be fantastic. I've been running off of my homemade tokens for a few years now and I'm ready for a purdy set.
  2. I am very interested in seeing what comes out of all this closed testing and tinkering with the Avatar rules. I look forward to January!
  3. I used them a fair bit during the beta, exclusively with Shenlong. For me, their value came from the ability to layer on Burning and their 2" push. As noted elsewhere, Burning isn't the same as direct damage, but it is roughly a boost to their damage output in a lot of cases and sometimes Condition based damage can be particularly useful. Their 2" push was something I really appreciated having. It made them much easier to keep out of LOS, then pop out and charge something. Or disengage then charge something else. My favorite aspect of that move is that it gives them just a bit more mobility when getting into position to take Interact actions. That 2" move can come in very handy in that regard. Also as noted elsewhere, they were very fun to use with Shenlong. Focusing for (0) works great with them, and Shenlong/Sensei Wu can support them with extra movement (though they can do that with anything.) I'm looking forward to using them more, especially after seeing the art. They look way cooler than I expected!
  4. Big fan of the artwork. Totally not what I was expecting, and that's a good thing.
  5. Is this about the gigantic-gun wielding Samurai, or the Lone Swordsman from the beta? Mindshred's post got me confused. If it's about the "normal" Samurai, I've used it all of once in a Shenlong beta game, and even though it ended ignominiously (Red Joker one shot from Mancha Roja) it wasn't a bad model. The gun can be great if you know the Black Joker is out of the way. Great range, lots of to hit, fair damage, good trigger; all for a (1) action. You need to pick your targets kind of carefully, but it does help against a more horde-y type of enemy crew, where the average Df is probably going to be lower anyways. Melee is solid. The damage output isn't high, but ignoring Armor is very nice to have when you need it. Its also decently durable with Armor +2 base, though his Wds total is a little lower because of it. With the increased healing coming to 10T in Wave 2, I think they could be pretty durable in the right circumstances. It's a pretty flexible model, though you pay for that flexibility in SS cost and with the unreliability of the Shoulder Gatling (at least he doesn't sacrifice himself anymore if he misses.) I'm interested in trying it out in more crews, though I kind of want to wait until I get the actual model before messing around with it much more.
  6. Just in case anyone else didn't see it, Cojo is getting an official upgrade to a 50mm base: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?50030-Cojo-Errata-12-19-14 Unfortunately, this came a day too late (I just finished painting him the night before,) but it should make it a lot easier to fit him on a base. It's also kind of a buff, because I think it ups the overall area that Cojo can affect with his and . Will make him a little harder to fit in places, but it's a nice trade up overall.
  7. Dammitall, I just finished Cojo the other day. *heart.break* At least it's easy to glue is current base on top of a 50mm for the upgrade. Where'd this come from? (For the record: I think it's a good change overall. I just wished I had started with my Razorspine. :-P) EDIT: Nevermind, found it on the Rules Forum.
  8. decker_cky nailed (pinned it.) Pinning is one of those things that you may not do very often, but it's a really useful option to have. Any time you have a model where you ask yourself "how the hell is that supposed to stay together?", pinning is probably your answer. The other thing I'll add is to not be scared to try it. When I first started out putting models together I was intimidated by pinning because I was sure that it would be hard to get right, and screwing it up would be a big pain. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, so long as you're patient, pinning is usually very easy, and even if you screw it up somehow it's not too hard to fix/start over. It's also one of those things that is a little less crucial when working with plastic models; they're lighter so its usually pretty easy to just glue them together. But the lighter models also can lead to more exotic poses (as with the Young Nepahlim in the new box,) and it never hurts to pin something for a little extra reinforcement.
  9. I think you could, though it'd be a little tricky since it's thin. But I've dealth with worse in the past. Thinking about it more, I think a nice solution would be to put a hole in the middle of the gore pile, then stick the spine into that and pin the whole sucker in place that way (so pin through the bottom and some support on the sides.) That should be about as solid as it's going to get, though I am still very tempted to just mount the head right onto the gore. The spine is the biggest potential weak spot, so if you get around that the model should be fine.
  10. Yep, pretty much. The assembly of the Young itself and the head fit together really nicely, but the whole thing then seats onto the back of the gore pile using the base of the spine. It's....really unstable. My backup plan for when it inevitably breaks is to chop the spine down and basically just glue the head onto the gore pile. I'm hoping that will be more stable, which retaining the general "ick" effect.
  11. The new Young Nephalim look fantastic, and they went together pretty easily. Even the one "mounted" on the human head was relatively easy to assemble, which was a surprise. However, I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to feel "solid" in terms of stability. The model is together and on it's base, but I'm worried that any bump will break the neck stump right off. I've reinforced it with a back layer of putty, though I don't know how effective that will be in the long run. For anyone else that put together the new Nephalim box set: how did you stabilize that grisly Young?
  12. I'm basing my Marcus crew with the Secret Weapon Miniatures "Rocky Bluff" resin bases. One of the 40mm bases worked out perfect for Cojo's stance: it's on a slight incline so his arm and legs sit on the base, and it has a bit of rock edge that his "down" arm kind of grabs on to. Here's the link to their product page: http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=79_33_78&products_id=361 It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'm 90% sure that I used the lower left base in the picture for Cojo. Unfortunately, I don't know if you can buy just the one base, but thankfully SWM's base sets aren't too expensive. I can add a picture later as an example, if that helps.
  13. Super delayed response here, but I got my order at the end of last week. I'm very happy to get all of my goodies, but I ran into an issue: I banded together with some buddies for a group order, and the box was short 2 of the M2E Rules Manuals. I thought there might be a stock issue, but the packing slip seems to indicate that the order was filled (i.e. there should have been 4 in the box.) I sent in a notification/assistance request using the Online Store's help form. I haven't heard back yet, but I'm not too concerned about that yet; I'm sure they're swamped. For anyone that has had a similar issue: is there a more appropriate area I should be directing my request? Just want to make sure I'm hitting up the proper channels. Also: the new plastics are fantastic. The new Marcus box set is so much of an improvement over the old one, it makes me want to weep big 'ol nerd tears.
  14. Just want to second dgraz - even with just the Wave 1 releases, Marcus can run an all Beast list a lot more effectively than he ever could in the past edition. The beasts are well rounded and good enough now that you aren't really hamstringing yourself by going that route. Out of Wave 1 the only thing I think I would really splash out for would be ranged attacks. I don't think you necessarily need to, but being able to reach out at range sure is nice.
