  1. Are there any out of keyword models y’all recommend with Nekima? Edit: some of the alternate models are pretty cool. I’m wondering about running a Miss Anthrope as an alternate Candy, and Miss Ery for Teddy.
  2. I played a lot of Malifaux in 1st edition, I had the entire neverborn and guild ranges at one point as well as a significant number of arcanists…..then the people I played with moved away and I moved to a town where no one played. years later my local gaming group wants to give Malifaux a try. Nice. I don’t have any of my stuff anymore and will be starting from scratch. No problem. I go online to find my master’s box set and discover Lilith isn’t a thing anymore. Boo. not sure if I want to do Titania, Nekima, or Pandora. I like pandora and the sorrows, but don’t care for Cade or candy at all aesthetically. I love my nephilim but feel like I should hate nekima on principle alone after what she did to Lilith. i will likely try to get my wife involved and my guess is she will either play Lucius or Collette. (Law student who used to be a ballet dancer, just a hunch she will pick one of them) no idea what the rest of the group is choosing. How do the different neverborn masters play now? Everything I know is two editions out of date. thanks in advance.
  3. So what are the odds that the first time I've been on this forum in probably a year is within a week of your posting? I actually don't have any Malifaux stuff anymore. I sold it all since there wasn't anyone to play with. 17thnight, I'm in the National Guard and I end up East River every month because of it. Nugundam64, I'm still near Rapid City, but I don't have any models or rules or terrain.
  4. Dollar General stores carry a cheap citrus based cleaner which from experience I know works wonderful for stripping paint. Just submerge them in it for a day or two and then scrub the paint off with a brush. A small dental scraper type tool works well for getting the paint out of the really hard to reach areas.
  5. Yeah, so I try to make my terrain for free using whatever stuff I can find. Scrap MDF, leftover sheets of styrofoam, etc. I also buy materials at the $1 store. They typically have styrofoam, foam core, moss, glue, and a lot of other things which can be used. Cost really isn't a factor for me because I can make really good terrain very inexpensively. Access to a work shop with a lot of wood working tools and leftover bits of projects helps a bit.
  6. I prime black everywhere, and then spray white lightly from above.
  7. Here are my current problems. 1: I dont have a dedicated paint area anymore. Bought a new house and haven't figured out where to do this. There really isn't anywhere with good lighting and protection from my kids/dog. The kids want to help if they see my stuff out. Everything is kind of temporary right now. My most recent painting has been grabbing a bottle or two or three of paint, a brush, and sitting on a couch or bed. 2: Most of my paint is now a couple of years old, it very well may be time to start replacing them. Though I have added flow aid to a few and stirred them with a metal stick for a bit, these seem to work well enough. 3: I think Izamu's armor is a pain to paint. It looks great, but for some reason I just have trouble with it. I think its the flat shoulder and waist sections that end up looking too similar to each other. There are a lot of flat areas that just dont have a lot of depth. Solutions: Im gonna set up a paint area in our laundry room. Lots of space, shelf space to keep everything available, and good lighting are all a plus. I'm gonna refresh my paints with flow aid, and replace the ones that are unsalvagable. I'm going to simplify my paint job for Izamu considerably and try to paint him in a more monochrome style. I tried using a red and green scheme over black/grey to match him with my Torakage and Ashigaru. I'm just gonna go with the black/grey now. My torakage are black with white secondary areas. Yan Lo will probably be done in a variety of greys and blacks so there is some synergy with them. I'm thinking of doing Tara's crew in whites to keep the synergy with the torakage as well.
  8. There are several moddels I have painted in the last few years which I am very proud of. Lots of layers, some attempts at OSL, things like that. But lately I am just not satisfied with anything I have painted. Most recently I tried painting Misaki's crew and Yan Lo's crew plus Izamu. I have repainted Izamu 2 or 3 times and am currently stripping the paint off of him. I just cant seem to paint him in the way his sculpt deserves. His pants turned out really good last time, but his armor just doesn't look good no matter how I paint it. Yan Lo's crew turned out okay the first time, but I went ahead and reprimed them to start over as I want them to match Izamu. Ototo looks horrible. I tried doing a yellow paint scheme for Misaki's crew and it just didn't work. The yellow I was using was either transperent or globby. I just couldnt seem to get it on right. It was either too thin or too thick no matter what I did. I think my problem with Misaki's crew was the actual yellow paint I was using. It is quite old and just doesnt seem to cover right no matter how much I thin it or what I do with it. Applying it in thin layers made it look very "sticky", it just looked like a model dipped in yellow ink. My second attempt at the torakage turned out better. They are not finished yet but they are at least table top. Come to think of it, my last few models I was happy with were all metal models. Should there be any variation in my painting technique between metal and plastic models? I want to get this sorted before I start on Tara's crew. I also want there to be some cohesion between my Yan Lo crew, Tara Crew, and Misaki's crew. I've been having trouble coming up with color schemes lately. I have a lot of blue paint from painting Rasputina and a lot of nephilim. I can do blue very well; but I am getting tired of blue. I used to play blood angels so I have a lot of red painting experience. I'm not happy with my greens and yellows. I think this is mostly because of my paint selection as I only have a few of each and haven't really found any combinations I like. Where I have probably 10 different shades of blue I only have 2 shades of green and one of yellow. I've been having trouble with my NMM lately as well. I did a guardian that I am extremely proud of using a combination of metallics and NMM. I have not really done anything since that good. Sorry for the rambling, but I just need to figure this out. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  9. That pic makes me think that Wyrd needs to do a sculpt with a model wearing a tinfoil hat.
  10. As an outcast, would not Tara have access to Oyran as well? Don't they do pretty much the same thing? I'm a little out of date with rules, so apologies if I am wrong.
  11. As if I needed more reason to start Colette. Thanks Wyrd.
  12. I think it would be cool to have some generic upgrades available to all factions, that could actually compete with specific upgrades. How to do this? I haven't a clue.
  13. I prefer the old Waldgeists myself, one of my favorite Wyrd sculps. I also like the 1.5 version of Bad Juju. The 1.5 nephilim are all kind of generic demon creatures like those made by any number of model companies. Personally, I'm hoping that Lelu, Lilitu, and Nekima are awesome. I already have multiple lelu/lilitu's, but I would buy them again for the right sculpt. Same with Nekima.
