  1. I played a game the other day with my Journalist crew and, while I think I played things correctly, I wanted to check something. I had two Field Reporters standing side by side in the middle of the table, surrounded by enemy models. The enemy didn't move, they just kept trying to kill the journalists (I had other models healing them). This resulted in several enemy models being within range of both Field Reporters' auras at the same time. ('You can't escape the truth' and 'humiliation'). We played it that both models' auras were in effect, so enemies were discarding two cards per activation and taking two damage per turn. Is that the correct way to play? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  2. I am having the same issue. I have the latest version, 1.6.1, but for several months now the News Feed and Breachside Broadcast just say 'Loading News Feed', without ever updating.
  3. I'm definitely going to back the KS for the King's Empire, but I have a few quibbles about the renders. This is mainly down to me being keen on history and TOS is obviously not a historical game, so I don't expect much to change. I'm just offering an opinion. 1. Looking at the Rifle Corps, how are their backpacks staying on? Some kind of straps would help make them look a bit more realistic. E.g. 2. The Grenadiers' Grenade Launchers look really modern. Rotary style weapons like that were only developed around 1980. Given that the rest of the King's Empire equipment looks fairly low-tech or steam powered, perhaps the grenade launchers could be looked at again? For example, during WW1 catapult type devices and mortars were used for throwing grenades. Even up until the end of WW2, the British army were still using the sping-loaded PIAT as an anti-tank weapon. 3. The Dragoon's look great, but their helmets look odd compared to real world examples. Dragoon Dress Helmets had plumes, but their combat uniform helmets were usually plain or had a simple spike on the top. By WW1 they wore caps or infantry style helmets into battle. http://www.qdg.org.uk/pages/Uniform-1843-Onwards-81.php
  4. No worries, I'm not out to start anything. I like my forums flame war free and (at least somewhat) sane. I think the Guild pretty much has the 'bad, multinational superpower' covered, so the KE could well turn out to be the good guys of the TOS setting. We'll have to see. Either way, I'm liking the aesthetic of regular men and women fighting back against extra-planar monstrosities and twisted mutants. I'll leave the fluff to Wyrd to put together.
  5. Not really the best place to discuss the real world effects of the British Empire, but it wasn't all bad. Among other things the British Empire: Worked to abolish slavery, not just banning it, but actively hunting down slavers and setting up a colony of freed slaves. Creating disaster relief services in India. Previously if a monsoon wiped out an areas crops everyone starved. The Empire set up a system to deal with that, which continued well after the British left India. Provided education, medical services and infrastructure. The Empire also provided the manpower and resources to help bring about the defeat of Germany and Japan. When Japan offered India independence from the Empire in WW2, India responded by creating the largest all volunteer army in history and fighting for the Empire. There is a modern trend to link the words Empire and Evil together, but it is a LOT more complicated than that. As with any world power, they did a lot wrong, but they also did a lot to improve the conditions in the places they went. Back on topic, the minis in the KS look nice, but I think the uniforms look a little plain. The Dragoons could use proper helmets, either with more decoration on the front or at least a neat looking plume. The art for the KE infantry shows them with some webbing which the minis appear to lack. The infiltrators look great though.
  6. To be honest, I hope that is not the case. The South Wales Borderers were a regular infantry regiment, professionally trained and with a long and glorious history. If Wyrd want to make stuff up, that's fine, it's their world after all. If they are going to use actual historical figures and references, I hope they do so with respect to the men, women and organizations involved. Working with the concept of the British Empire as a starting point, there are a lot of regiments, historical figures and themes for Wyrd to draw upon. Scots, Irish, Sikhs, Gurhkas and more served in the Empire, so Wyrd have no shortage of inspiration for the King's Empire forces.
  7. Last weekend I played on a 6'x12' table. Admittedly my friends and I had to rent a small meeting room at our local community center to do that, but where there is a will (and some cash), there is a way. For people playing at home, Malifaux's 3'x3' is pretty achievable, but it really is skirmish size. TOS is meant to be a larger scale of gaming (though still very much a skirmish between small forces), that means either the table gets bigger or the minis get smaller. For 28mm scale models, 6'x4' is pretty standard. While it might not really be the average size of dining tables, it's not impossible to fit a table that size into a house/garage/large shed. Recently there has been a trend towards smaller tables and low model count games. Malifaux and Warmahordes seem to be at the forefront of that, making games playable in a smaller space, with less outlay in painting time and set-up and thus more accessible for everyone. Wyrd looks to be trying to diversify their games portfolio, so TOS doesn't follow the same pattern as Malifaux. What would really be the point if it did? So maybe it's time to invest in bigger furniture or perhaps you can clear some space on the floor? If that doesn't work, club together with some friends and see if a local community center will suit your gaming needs.
  8. The Guild is based in Vienna right? I would imagine the yellow area of central Europe on the map will be Guild controlled. The helmets and uniforms of the Guild troops have a certain Prussian/German feel to them as well.
  9. The renders for the unit bases look pretty chunky. Will the production version be a little more discreet? The current Malifaux bases are deep enough imho, I like my minis to look at home on the tabletop rather than standing on a thick plinth. Really looking forward to the KS. Depending on pricing I may have to get every faction.
  10. I have had a similar problem after buying the Viktorias pack. I bought the box set, but the gun wielding Viktoria was missing. I contacted Wyrd on the 19th and got a response the next day asking for a picture of the box and it's contents. I sent that back on the 21st of July and despite sending a follow up email on the 11th of August, I haven't heard anything back from the Wyrd guys. I know that they are busy with the new releases and they had Gen-con in the middle of this period, but I really want to get into this game. I have played one game where I proxied both Vikkys and I loved it. Malifaux is an amazing game system and I really want to recommend it to my friends.
