  1. @Omenbringer Can you be more specific as to what allows him to control the deck? I'm not very familiar with the abilities on the second edition models. Do gremlins still have the ability that allows you to draw 2 cards when they die? Is somer still limited to a hand size of 5?
  2. I am planning on making my triumphant return to Malifaux, and I am looking to get the lay of the land. I have not played since the second edition beta. In first edition the Masters I enjoyed most were Leveticus, Hamlin, and Ramos for their ability to manipulate your deck and hand to such an extreme level. I know a lot of the goofy draw mechanics were removed in second edition. My question is what is left? Who really messes with the fate deck and manipulates the odds of the game in an extreme way? Can I build a crew around this fact? -Hopeless
  3. If it is an aura what happens if i cast it and then walk into range of a unit? Does Mei interrupt her walk to push with the aura or do you wait until the walk is completed?
  4. Seismic punch states that you push a model up to three inches directly away from this model. But the spell is listed as a three inch aura. After reading this it seems like it should be a pulse. I'm wondering how this ability actually functions does it: A. Push all models within 3 inches away 3 inches B. Push all models within 3 inches up to 3 inches away (I realize the spell does not say that "up to") C. Act as an aura that stays up and pushes any models I approach to the edge of the aura. (If this is the case how do Df flips interact with auras?)
  5. OK, so this isn't a hard rules question, but since the section of the forum is titled Rules Discussion I thought this would be a good place for it. What do you do when you come across irreparable game state? So this is when something has happened in the game that you can't just undo. This ranges from flipping over too many cards, ie thinking you have a negative twist when you are straight up, all the way to all the damage marks get erased and you cannot remember how much damage was on every character. What do you do? If the game is casual or in a tourney effect how you deal with it? What would you do in this situation if it is your fault/your opponents fault/you are judging the event?
  6. Sorry to revive this thread after everyone has forgotten about it, but I thought of another argument as to why you should be able to cast this spell even if the enemy has no soul stones. Let's pretend for a second that you can only target models if their controller still has soul stones left. I cast expensive gift on Lady Justice who has only one stone left and I cheat the spell nice and high. Now Lady J decides she has to soul stone in order to stop the spell from going off, but he flip is terrible and I still beat her. In this instance the spell would then do nothing cause there is no stone to steal. That doesn't seem correct to me at all. There has been some talk in this thread about rules as written vs. rules as intended, but in this case I believe them to be the same. The two sentences signify two separate interactions.
  7. Maybe it is just the crews I play (Colette, Ramos, Levi, and Hamlin) but I have never had a problem with Hamlin (after the change to rat catchers wounds.) He straight up loses some match ups and strategies (Pandora, Seamus, Kirai, Slaughter). I feel he is a noob-stomper because once you know how to play against him you can beat him. And now that avatars are out almost every crew has the tools to deal with him (going avatar will end insignificant).
  8. Dano...You should try using washes... Open Spoiler Don't flame me inside joke
  9. Oh...OK. He is actually on the painting table right now. When did he get the name overkill? Not that it isn't fitting.
  10. Who are you and what have you done with the other six Toledo henchmen?
  11. Alright the closest thing I have found to a precedence (and I must admit it is a bit of a stretch) is that with surge you are not allowed to draw a card if you cannot discard a card (per the Malifaux FAQ). Surges wording is as follows with me adding the bold text. Ca (tt) After successfully casting a Spell, discard one Control Card then draw one Control Card. Here there is a clear if then statement meaning that the second effect is contingent on the first. There is no "then" in expensive gift so if they the opponent has no soul stones you can still gain one.
  12. I believe barring some kind of if then statement malifaux as a system is a "do as much as you can" system. Meaning that if you can't do everything in an effect you do as much of it as you can. For example if you cast a spell that gives slow and -2df but the model is already slow (can't gain slow if you already have slow) it would still get the -2df. In all honesty I think the discard one soul stone is what stops you from casting it on your own models. I think this is a lot of crying over a spell that is only strong because of Cassandra's understudy ability.
  13. You will have to pry the rule of equivalency from my cold dead hands...
  14. Like I said give up your crutch not necessarily your faction (unless you want to.)
