  1. I am loving everything except Ramos' face. It may need a little clean up. The way I would paint the flesh areas is to paint your flesh base coat then wash with a brown or red color. Even a yellow wash would be better than leaving the black in the recesses. Everything else is fantastic. I have the same bases less the gears and cogs you added.
  2. I've been to Kublacon in the last days of Mageknight. And it was alot of fun. There was this booth where you design you warrior and every hour, you submit your data sheet for gldiator style combat and they print out a fantastic play by play. Either your warrior dies or survives to fight another round. It was a great way to pass the time in between rounds. The sizzlers nearby provided much needed sustanence and alot of other places open late in Burligame are just a quick drive away.
  3. Go to th local craft store or 99 cent store and get the cheap photo albums. The cards will fit the sleeves and you can flip through the cards easily. Use a dry erase marker to mark wounds.

  5. I have an obsessive need to have my minis painted before I think of playing a game. It just doesn't sit right if I have to play with minis not painted. I have even played with a tank that wasn't even glued. It was held together with lots of rubber bands. After that game, I really didn't feel like playing anymore. That is the plus with Malifaux, a small number of models mean they get painted faster and played sooner.
  6. Kelthos Thanks for the reply. In all honesty, learning Malifaux is the main reason why I went to ORCCON. I got my base rulebook and first crew just for the con. I had hoped to learn the game and get additional crews with plans on applying to become a henchman. How big a group of people play at GMI? Any chance of schedulng a demo over there on a Saturday? Let me know. Thanks!
  7. I just came back from ORCCON and was very disappointed at the lack of presence of Malifaux and Wyrd Miniatures. There were no henchmen to run a demo. Thus, I was not able to learn the game. When the exhibitor room was open, no one had any knowledge of the Malifaux game or even the Wyrd Miniature brand. I eplained to them the game and though they were interested there were no demos to actually show what I just explained. Very very disappointed as the main reason I wanted to attend this convention was to learn Malifaux and meet players in the area. I hope there is a stronger presence planned in the future. In the meantime, I will be looking to other games until there is a strong Malifaux presence in my area.
  8. Welcome Zephir and we hope the cards of fate smile upon you.
  9. I really like the lighting effect on Pandora. Did you leave out the piece that goes above the box or did you cut it off?
  10. I like the skirmish game in Malifaux. The closest I got to a skirmish game in my day was the Shadowrun Game produced by Wizkids. Being a painter, in the big army environment, I get tired of painting by the 6th figure with the same basic pose with the same paint scheme. So, Malifaux is such a refreshing format where each figure is individually unique like the Ortega's Crew or the Viktoria's.
  11. Nooooo....I pray to the card of fate that someone will be able to run demos. Will there be a Malifaux Booth or will I purchase from independent retailers?
  12. I have to say that the Citadel Washes are a painters friend. Getting the box set is worth the money. Learning to use it is just as easy. My tip is to read all the tutorials before dipping the brush. When you understand the techniques, then get some cheap throw away models to practice the techniques on. GW gives away free models to new people after they present a lengthy demo. If they don't, ask for one. I started with the cheap apple barrel paints before I truly invested in the brand names like Vallejo or Citadel. I also used bargain bin paint brushes but they do not last very long, so investing in the name brand brushes and learning proper brush care is very important.
  13. I've used Simple Green on second hand plastic models I bought with caked up glue and paint. I probably should have asked how old the first owner was before I bought it. Anyway, I left the figures in a diluted simple green mix for 48 hours and then scrbbed them with an old toothbrush in the simple green and rinsing in between. The paint peeled off nicely but the primer was difficult and no damage to the plastics. Some parts came off, I am guess due to the simple green. And this all was with a DILUTED simple green mix.
  14. Glad to hear this, I will be going to ORCCON and I have decided not to join any tournaments so I can soak up the experience with this being my first time. I will be there Friday to Sunday and I really hope to get a demo. If I am lucky, I will have my Pandora's Crew all painted up to use. I hope to meet you guys there.
