Snow Angel (of Death!)
Snowpocalypse references both Snow and the end of times. I was initially going to paint up a model to represent Death (with a scythe) but felt that it wasn't snow themed enough. I thought about other gods and mythical creatures that collect the souls of the dead and then came up with the idea of a Snow Angel. Snow angels are fun shapes children make by lying down in the snow but I got to thinking what a real snow angel would be like.
So my piece is the Snow Angel (of Death!) who collects the souls of those who die in the snow. I tried to convey this by having her stood over a frozen lake full of bones and skulls and by using a cool set of colours across the whole model. I was especially pleased with the lake.
I've tried to use hints of blue/green metallic paints to give a sheen to the highlights of the wings which I wanted to keep black and menacing.
The Iron Painter has been a great journey and its been a privilege to compete alongside such a great community of painters, courteous and helpful judges and committed Wyrd staff. Thank you all for sharing the journey!
