First Entry I look at and makes me question my idea of OSL.  I always thought of it as a color glow that shades things around it.  Here the color of the objects stay true (no fire red/orange/yellow tint from the bird) but are clearly "in the light".  Overall Looks like some smug showing off of magic creatures "yeah but mine glows!"

Thank you (I guess :D)  I think I have a pretty literal interpretation Object Source Lighting -- there should be an object and it should emit light onto things around it. Whether that object it something a character holds, or something separate. My first plan was to make the phoenix glow blue like a Harry Potter patronus, but that seemed a bit more limiting. So I decided to give it a more natural light instead. I had it painted way more yellow initially, but I felt that didn't give it the brightness I wanted. So I lightened it to a more neutral white. I even used some artistic titanium white paint to get the highlights as bright as possible.

And yes, that Kirin must be a bit bummed out. Sure he's got scales and a cool horn, but does he glow?? :D

I really like the softness of the lighting on this one. The use of a neutrally coloured light doesn't interfere with or overpower the colours of the subjects in the scene, specifically their clothing.

My only criticism is maybe the missed opportunity of some lovely soft cast shadows, but that may have required a starker light, and ruined the tone of the piece. Really nice work.
